One of the first things the enemy will try to steal from us is our joy. He wants to get us sad, sorrowful, and oppressed. Remember what it was like when you first were saved? There was joy unspeakable. God doesn’t want us to lose that joy! Nehemiah 8:10 tells us, “The JOY of the Lord is your strength.” It is important for Christians to have joy in their life! If you don’t have joy, you don’t have any strength.

Ephesians 2:10! We have a multi billion-dollar clothing industry in the USA, and it is built upon the premise that looking good is important. We get anxious about our appearance and our performance in life. In other words, many of us worry about how we stack up. Jesus tells us that our heavenly Father's opinion about who we are is all that truly matters. If He approves of us, that's all the approval we need. He gives us our identity and an inner beauty that far surpasses anything related to what we might wear, own, drive, or live in! # understanding

Ecclesiastes 4:9! Accomplishments are multiplied through teamwork! It is impossible for one person to play a duet or trio. It is hard to win a football or basketball game without a team. It is hard to have a happy marriage if only one mate works at it. How encouring to note that two people can actually do more than twice as much as one, as long as they are pulling in the same direction! Jesus is Lord!

Jesus does not want casual or naive followers. He expects people to recognize that true faith is highly demanding, requiring self-denial and the willingness to let go of your own worldly ambitions to pursue God's will. Ultimately, He taught that a commitment to Him must come with no conditions and no fallback plans.

"ACTS OF THE APOSTLES"
Chapter Two
OBJECTIVES IN STUDYING THIS CHAPTER
1. To carefully consider the events surrounding the outpouring of the Spirit on the day of Pentecost
2. To examine Peter's first gospel sermon, and the evidence presented in it for the resurrection of Jesus Christ
3. To observe the response to the sermon, and what people were told to do in order to be saved
4. To note the establishment and characteristics of the church in Jerusalem
SUMMARY
Ten days after Jesus ascended to heaven, on the Jewish feast day of Pentecost, the Holy Spirit is poured out as promised. With the sound of a rushing mighty wind, and with tongues of fire appearing above their heads, those filled with the Holy Spirit begin to speak in other tongues (1-4). Devout Jews visiting from other countries are attracted and amazed as they hear wonderful works of God proclaimed in their own languages (5-13).
Peter, standing with the rest of the apostles, explains that what has happened is a fulfillment of Joel's prophecy (Joel 2:28-32), who foretold that God would pour out His Spirit in the last days (14-21). He then preaches Jesus of Nazareth to the crowd, reminding them of His miracles, their involvement in His death, and proclaiming that God raised Him from the dead. As proof for the resurrection, Peter offers three lines of evidence: 1) the prophecy by David, who foretold of the resurrection (Ps 16:8-11); 2) the twelve apostles as witnesses; 3) the Spirit's outpouring itself , indicative of Christ's exaltation and reception of the promise of the Spirit from the Father. In conclusion, Peter pronounces that God has made Jesus, whom they crucified, both Lord and Christ (22-36).
Cut to the heart, the people ask the apostles what they should do. Peter commands them to repent and be baptized for the remission of sins and gift of the Holy Spirit. With many other words he exhorts them to be saved, and about 3000 souls gladly receive his word and are baptized (37-41).
Thus begins the church in Jerusalem, which continues steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread and prayers. Signs and wonders are done by the apostles, while the believers display their love and devotion through acts of benevolence and frequent worship. They enjoy the favor of the people, and the Lord adds to the church daily those being saved (42-47).

The spirit of Pentecost represents the arrival of the Holy Spirit and the birth of the Christian Church. Celebrated fifty days after Easter, it is defined by empowering boldness, miraculous unity, and a profound breaking down of cultural and linguistic barriers.
The original event is described in the biblical book of Acts, chapter 2. While the early followers of Jesus were gathered in one place, the Holy Spirit arrived with three distinct signs:
* A Rushing Wind: Symbolizes the life-giving breath of God and the unstoppable, invisible movement of the Spirit.
* Tongues of Fire: Represents purification, illumination, and the passion that ignites believers to share their faith.
* Speaking in Tongues: Though the disciples spoke their own language, the diverse crowds from all over the known world heard the message in their native tongues.

Pentecost Sunday is a major Christian holiday celebrated 50 days after Easter. It commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles and other followers of Jesus in Jerusalem, which empowers believers to spread the Gospel and is traditionally recognized as the "birthday of the Church".

Biblical Significance
According to the New Testament book of Acts 2:1–31, the event occurred while Jesus' followers were gathered for the Jewish festival of Shavuot. Suddenly, a sound like a rushing wind filled the house, and "tongues of fire" rested above the head of each person present. This enabled the Apostles to speak in different languages, allowing them to share the message of Christ with people of various nations.

Traditions and Practices
* Liturgical Color: The primary color worn and displayed in many churches on this day is red, symbolizing the flames of the Holy Spirit. White is also used in some traditions.
* Confirmation: Many Christian denominations (such as Catholicism) hold confirmation ceremonies on or around this day, tying it to the sealing of the Holy Spirit.
* Alternative Names: Pentecost is sometimes referred to as Whitsunday or White Sunday, traditionally associated with a time when newly baptized individuals would wear white robes

Every child must learn to develop healthy ways of handling conflicts. A child must learn such matters as fair play in his games, he must learn to share what he has with others, he must also learn to be a good loser when the occasion arises! It is not good for a person to have everything handed to him on a silver platter. If we live in a superficial emotional level, giving vent to our feelings as they come up within us, we have never grown up emotionally. In the process of emotional maturity, we must learn to handle our tensions or otherwise we become slaves to them. From the series! Handling conflicts!
