✨ A season of rest for a faithful shepherd. ✨

After nearly 32 incredible years of walking alongside this church family — through grief and loss, through broken seasons and beautiful ones, through funerals and celebrations and everything in between — we are so honored to announce that Pastor Steve will be stepping away this summer (all of June, July and August) for a well-deserved pseudo sabbatical. We will not be having worship services this summer.

He has shown up, year after year, decade after decade, with grace, compassion, and unwavering faithfulness. He has held our hands at gravesides. He has spoken truth into our hardest moments. He has been a steady, loving presence through it all.

Now it's our turn to pour into him. Rest deeply, Pastor Steve. Be refreshed. Be renewed. You are cherished beyond words, and we can't wait to welcome you back. 🙏

Unfortunately we will not be meeting until March 8th. Pastor had to have a surgery yesterday and he will be off for 6 weeks. Please keep Pastor Schulte and his husband in your prayers. Blessings.

Our heart felt condolences to the Hill family on the death of the beloved father, father-in-law, grandfather and great grandfather, as well as his many friends. He was a very active member of St Luke’s for many decades and he sang with a voice like an angel. Rest eternal grant him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine on him.

Congratulations to Pastor Steve and Andy! They eloped! Now we need to celebrate their more than 10 years together! Yea!! And yes, it was actually Dec 16th. Time got away from us.

It was 30 years ago today, December 1st, 1994, I became the pastor at St. Luke’s. It’s been a great honor to be a part of your lives. As you know, it’s my one and only place to have been a pastor. It’s brought many ups and downs, many learning experiences, and many experiences I never dreamed could or would happen. I’ve met tens of thousands people because of my time at St. Luke’s. Many of those people have made a huge impact of my life and on my ministry. That would include each of you who currently attend, including long time members such as Cedric, Bob, Albert, along with Missy and Jay & Maya and Zoe. There are too many to list of people who've been at St. Luke's over the years. Thank you for taking the journey with me as your pastor. I doubt there’s another 30 years of my time at St. Luke’s, but whatever that time is, I’m eternally grateful. Here's a photo my mother took on my first day. If I only had that hair again!

Please keep the family of Carol Francis in your prayers. She’s been attending throughout the years and in fact I believe she’s been there way more than 30 years. I, the pastor, have been at St. Luke’s 30 years and she was there when I first arrived at St. Luke’s in 1994. She would attend as many church services in Savannah as should could. Such a devoted Christian.

Carol entered eternal rest Sunday, June 30, 2024. She will be deeply missed. Her Celebration of Life is this Wednesday at 11am. See details below.
