On February 6, two massive earthquakes devastated southern Turkey and northwest Syria. Tens of thousands have died or been injured, and many more have been displaced. Catholic Relief Services (CRS) is working with Caritas Turkey and Caritas Syria to provide relief, likely including shelter, food, hygiene supplies, and winter items. Please pray for the people of Turkey and Syria. If you would like to financially support the relief efforts, you can donate to CRS at crs.org

โ€œGod of all Creation, we ask you to bring comfort to the people of Turkey and Syria, whose lives were instantly shattered by two strong earthquakes. Please comfort them through the pain of losing loved ones, homes, and more. Amen.โ€

In the aftermath of the deadly earthquakes in Turkey and Syria, we are supporting local partners to provide urgent relief. Our partners, Caritas Turkey and Caritas Syria, are already responding.

Compounding these challenges are extreme winter temperatures. Southern Turkey and northern Syria are experiencing snow and sleet, with more freezing temperatures likely in the days to come. Among the most pressing needs communicated by our partners are safe shelter, food, medication, and winter supplies such as blankets to keep families warm.

We only have a few days left to advocate increased funding for lifesaving foreign assistance! Congress passed a continuing resolution to fund the government until December 16, at which point they will need to pass the fiscal year 2023 federal budget.

NOW is the time to send an email to your members of Congress urging them to ensure the highest funding levels possible for international development and humanitarian assistance in the budget.
