Have you ever seen Mary depicted with seven swords piercing her heart and wondered what it meant? Each sword represents 7 times she experienced great pain due to events in Jesus' life. The Seven Sorrows:
1. The Prophecy of Simeon: This sorrow reflects the moment when Mary and Joseph presented the infant Jesus in the temple, and Simeon prophesied that a sword would pierce Mary's heart. (Luke 2:34-35)

2. The Flight into Egypt: In this sorrow, Mary and Joseph flee to Egypt to escape King Herod's decree to kill all male infants, as an angel warned them. (Matthew 2:13-15)

3. The Loss of the Child Jesus in the Temple: Mary and Joseph experience the anguish of losing Jesus for three days in Jerusalem, only to find Him in the temple, discussing with the teachers. (Luke 2:41-50)

4. Mary Meets Jesus Carrying the Cross: This sorrow focuses on the painful encounter between Mary and Jesus as He carries the heavy cross on the way to His crucifixion. (John 19:17)

5. The Crucifixion and Death of Jesus: Mary witnesses the agonizing crucifixion and death of her Son on the cross. (John 19:25-30)

6. Mary Receives the Body of Jesus: This sorrow reflects the moment when Mary receives the lifeless body of Jesus into her arms after His crucifixion. (Mark 15:43-47)

7. The Burial of Jesus: Mary experiences the sorrow of seeing her Son's body laid in the tomb, where He is placed after His death. (John 19:38-42)

Devoting time to meditate on the Seven Sorrows of Mary is a way to connect deeply with the emotions and experiences of the Blessed Mother. and to learn to suffer with love as she did.❤️
