Hi all! For those that signed up for Sunday's ski trip, I will be messaging families these details in the morning but thought it might be good to add the details here as well. Reach out if you have any questions! :)
For kids that will need a ride to and from Chestnut Mountain, please meet in the parking lot of the First United Methodist Church in Savanna no later than noon so we can ensure everyone is there before heading out. All parents/guardians must sign a waiver form (unless you already completed yours at the beginning of the school year for youth group).
If you plan to drive your kiddos to Chestnut Mountain so you can ski or just watch, PLEASE let me know if you haven't already. :) If you are meeting us at Chestnut, please meet in the ski lobby indoor entrance at 1pm. I will be wearing bright pink snowpants with a black coat, and my husband Quinn is a giant. Once we have everyone there at 1pm, I will purchase lift tickets and ski/snowboard rentals along with a helmet rental for everyone. If kids want to pack a lunch or buy food from the cafe, they can bring money with them. There also is a gift store if they need any new gloves, etc... Please make sure your child(ren) have a winter coat, waterproof gloves, and snowpants. The ski/snowboard boots will be provided through the rental, so they can wear any shoes to and from. If they have any of their own ski/snowboard equipment, they are welcome to bring that. I would recommend having them dress in layers such as a long-sleeve under a sweatshirt under their coat. There are free cubbies and also lockers they can rent.
Students can choose to ski or snowboard. Quinn and I have helped many teens get started with skiing and snowboarding, so we will do our best to help everyone learn the basics and build confidence. Some kids pick it up immediately, and others take longer, so we will keep working with those that need extra guidance. Once they get the hang of it, they are SO proud!!
We have at least 22 kids which is our largest group yet, so HUGE thanks to our parent chaperones that will be available in the lodge or watching at the top of the hill for any kids that want to take a break or grab a snack. I will require all kids to check in with us throughout our time there. I will aim to have everyone meet me back in the indoor entrance again by 5pm, so we will aim to leave Chestnut by 5:30. We will try to get back to the church around 6:15, but I will tell students to call or text families to give an accurate ETA as we are about to leave. They are welcome to borrow my phone to call if they don't have their own phone.
6-12th graders, come join us Sunday, Feb. 1 for our 3rd annual SKI TRIP!! No experience required. Quinn and April will give the newbies lessons :)
