Being Present for the True Presence is a Moving Experience!

Michigan and Canada Knights on Bikes rumbled into town Friday of Corpus Christi weekend to provide es**rt once again for the procession on Sunday. We are in awe of the commitment and we are happy for the friendship developed over the years. This year, travelers and parishioners were treated to a Friday evening concert in the church by Northern Accent Chamber Orchestra, followed by a picnic social at the rectory. Our deepest gratitude to the KoB for enhancing and safe-guarding our procession once again! May God bless you abundantly Knights and Knight’s Ladies, and keep you safe in your many travels!

Priests from around the vicariate attended and brought with them members of their flocks. 6 priests and deacons shared in carrying the Monstrance! A Knights on Bikes Deacon concelebrated all three weekend Masses with Holy Name of Mary Pastor Father Al. A seminarian, staying locally for the summer, also joined in the procession and managed the transfer of the Monstrance between priests.

Council 649 Knights of Columbus 4th Degree Honor Guard came out in numbers! Thank you very much gentlemen, for your professionalism and your commitment. We are deeply honored by your participation. There is no better display of resolute, church militant, lay authority than a cadre of uniformed 4th Degree Knights!

Members of Holy Name of Mary Music Ministry led hymn singing and prayers from the passenger wagon, donated again for use by the VFW Post 3676! Thank you! Thank you choristers, and thank you to the very many singing wagon riders--the wagon was full this year! And a special thank you to our tow-vehicle driver, parishioner Mark, for your conscientious attention to the process and the procession!

Children from St. Mary's School marched in the procession along with their school principal! Four volunteers carried the Monstrance canopy (the “baldacchino" in case you were wondering) Torch bearers accompanied the Monstrance, and 4 procession banner carriers (vexilliferia, in case you were still wondering) accompanied the faithful in the procession. The procession was visually striking and spiritually moving!

The procession traveled a one mile loop, and upon return to the church, the Holy Rosary and Divine Mercy chaplet were prayed. Benediction was followed by a picnic social on the rectory lawn, taking further advantage of the perfect weather, blessed be God!

Several delicious meals over the course of the weekend were prepared by our parish family volunteers. Rooms at the rectory used by the traveling Knights on Bikes for the weekend were prepared also by parishioner volunteers! Parishioner volunteers walked along with the procession, taking pictures, some of which are featured with this post. Thank you all so very much!

Thank you to everyone who took part in the procession, and to all our behind-the-scenes volunteers who assisted in the effort to create this opportunity for the faithful of the Vicariate of Holy Name of Mary to "Be Present for the True Presence.” We are looking forward to next year and the further grown of this public statement of our faith in God the Father, and the presence of His Son, our Lord Jesus Christ,--body, blood, soul and divinity,--in the Holy Eucharist.

Keeping a light burning in remembrance signifies that the memory lives on and is still burning brightly. We are fortunate here at Holy Name of Mary to have a candelabra at the right side of the altar near our Blessed Mary statue so that you may light one for a loved one.

The Altar Society will keep your candle burning for two weeks at a cost of $20.00. In turn, your donation helps keep your candle and the candles of the church burning.

Please call Anne at the parish office at 632-3381 if you would like to remember your loved one in this way.
