Hello, from Karen.

As we are all thinking about this upcoming school year, I wanted to pop in and let you know that we are also thinking about Awana. To answer the biggest question from the beginning, yes, at this point we are still planning on having Awana.

There are still a lot of unknowns about this coming year of Awana. At this point, we are planning on postponing the start of Awana until the beginning of October. This will give families a chance to adjust to the new procedures in school as well as give us a better grasp of how to best structure our Awana program. Our desire is to continue to have an intentional God centered, Bible focused program for your kids, yet also be sensitive to all of the changes you are dealing with as the new school year begins.

We will be sending out a parent survey following the first week of school to help us not only better prepare, but also to be able to address as many of your questions, concerns and ideas as possible. You are more than welcome to contact me any time prior to that as well through private message.

I hope that you've been able to enjoy some of the beautiful days we've had this summer and that you have some great family time this coming week before school starts.

Committing this school year to God in prayer and asking for His guidance!

Hello again on this Wednesday evening!

I missed seeing you all again tonight as we usually would have been at Awana. Now that schools will remain closed, I am sad to say that Awana also will not be meeting again this school year.

So . . . what does that mean for your kids, their progress through their Awana books, the Grand Prix, end of year awards and so many other things. Well, as we go forward one day at a time, we will be praying through those details.

For right now, I am going to again encourage you to have your kids (Cubbies, Sparks and T&Ters) continue on through their handbooks. What an opportune time for not only your kids to be able to spend more time in God's Word and His truth but to do so as a whole family as well. Please continue to initial after the verses that your son or daughter memorizes and recites to you. For an extra challenge, you could memorize the verses along with them. 🙂 If your child completes their book, use this as a great opportunity to go back and review.

Be on the lookout for our next Council time lesson to be posted tomorrow.

During this time, may we keep our focus on our all-knowing and all-powerful God who is our peace and our strength.

May God bless you and your family as you spend time in His Word!

Good Morning,

I hope that this post finds you well and enjoying extra family time. I also hope that during this stay-at-home time you have been able to pray and share God's Word together.

Although we can't meet for Awana, I encourage you to help your kids to keep working in their Awana books. There's great stories to read and verses to learn. The handbooks will also connect you with Bible passages that would make for great devotions or conversations as a family.

If your child memorizes a verse and can recite it to you with no more than 2 helps, put your initials after the verse. When we are able to get back together, your child's leader will review and sign off that section. This is a great time to go back and work on sections that may have been missed or a great time to review -- I know for me, I need to often review verses I've memorized or I forget them.

I also thought I would try something that will help connect us and keep us moving forward. I've linked a video I made of this week's Council Time. (Please don't judge the quality of the video -- this is definitely a learning curve for me.) The video will take your child through the topic of Peace and Patience. This is taken from the T&T handbook, but the content is for Sparks as well and so timely for us all. You'll find the link in the AWANA GROUP. Sparks (and even Cubbies) can memorize the verse as well. Just record it on a piece of paper with your signature and tape it in the front cover of their book.

Here's the verse: "Now may the Lord of peace Himself give you peace at all times in every way. The Lord be with you all." ~2 Thessalonians 3:16

Take care! Missing you all. Mrs. Brood

If your child attends AWANA please join the group to have access to the video Mrs. Brood made☺️

Hello,

Although we won't be gathering around the racetrack tonight for the Awana Grand Prix, Mrs. Myton, who runs our Awana office, had a great idea. We'd like to invite your child to share a picture of his or her car over in the Awana Facebook Group. Encourage your child to be creative in staging the picture. It will be fun to not only see the creativity amongst the cars but also the creativity in choosing/making a backdrop for the picture. As most are done making their cars, it will be a fun way to share. Just a reminder, we would expect that everyone will keep to their own designs and not "borrow" any from what they see. Sharing a photo is not mandatory, but something we thought would be fun and bring us together this evening without technically being together. 🙂 We look forward to when we can race the cars down the track, but until then, let's enjoy the many designs.

Looking forward to the preview of the Race to come.:)
