Update on Pastor Paavola:
It is with deep sorrow and with the sure and certain hope of the resurrection that we share this update regarding Rev. Dr. Dan Paavola.
Pastor Paavola was called home to be with the Lord at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, March 2, 2026.
In the days since his accident, we have prayed fervently for healing and recovery. The Lord, in His wisdom and mercy, has answered those prayers in a way different from what we had hoped. Our brother in Christ now rests from his earthly labors and stands in the presence of the Savior that he so faithfully proclaimed his whole life.
We give thanks to God for Dan’s life, his steadfast confession of Christ, his love for his family, and his faithful service to the church. As a husband, father and grandfather, pastor, professor, author and district leader, he touched countless lives with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. His voice may be silent among us for now, but the Word he preached endures forever.
We ask that you keep Holly, their children and extended family and friends in your prayers in the coming days. Pray that the Lord would surround them with His peace, uphold them with His promises, and comfort them with the hope of the resurrection. As St. Paul reminds us, we do not grieve as those who have no hope, for we know that because Christ lives, those who die in Him shall live also.
As a family of faith, we will gather for a prayer vigil tonight, Tuesday, March 3, at 7:00 p.m. In order to accommodate all who want to attend, the vigil will be held in the sanctuary at the First Immanuel campus.
Funeral arrangements and additional information about services will be shared as soon as they are available.
Into Your hands, O merciful Savior, we commend Your servant. Acknowledge, we humbly ask of You, a sheep of Your own fold, a lamb of Your own flock, a sinner of Your own redeeming. Receive him into the arms of Your mercy, into the blessed rest of everlasting peace, and into the glorious company of the saints in light.
Blessings in Christ,
Pastor Vince Putnam
