First Baptist Church Saugus

First Baptist Church Saugus We strive to be more like Jesus each and every day. We are a church who welcomes all that are searching and in need of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Our goal is to bring more souls to the knowledge of the Gospel and to help everyone that comes to Him, know Him for themselves preaching and teaching His Word. The First Baptist Church (FBC) is a church where all are welcome to come learn more about the Father (God), the Son (Jesus) and the Holy Spirit. We are a Bible believing and teaching church where the Word of God is not only taught but where

we strive to live it every day. We believe in building up the people of God to where He wants us to be. And we are a church who loves and grows our children. When you visit our Church you cannot help but feel the Spirit of God and the loving, family atmosphere.

Today is Maundy Thursday, which commemorates the Last Supper, the institution of the Lord's Supper. It is described in the Luke, chapter 22. At the Last Supper with His disciples, Jesus breaks bread, saying, "This is my body," and pours wine, saying, "This is my blood." He then asks the disciples to "Do this in remembrance of me."

The Last Supper was a Passover Seder, the feast of unleavened bread. Jesus and the disciples are eating unleavened bread. Passover is the Jewish festival commemorating the exodus of the Jews from Egypt, when they left so quickly there was no time for the bread to rise.

Maundy Thursday is also associated with foot-washing. Jesus washed the feet of the disciples, found in John, chapter 13, as Jesus was teaching them to be servants. It's the ultimate act of "servant leadership." Jesus instructs his followers to love and to serve.

Jesus also foretells his death, saying He will eat no more until the kingdom of God is fulfilled. It also marks an act of betrayal. "One of you will betray me," Jesus says. Judas Iscariot, one of Jesus' 12 disciples, is pointed out by Jesus as the one who will betray him.
