A Prayer for the week of June 8:

Prayer for Guidance and Peace

Gracious God, thank you for the gift of today. As I step into this new morning, I ask for your wisdom to guide my words, my actions, and every situation I encounter.

When my day goes well, may I rejoice, and when challenges arise, grant me the strength to persevere. Attune my heart to your peace, and help me to see the simple joys in the ordinary moments.

May my living today reveal your goodness. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

A Bible verse and Prayer for the week of June 1:

For the bread of God is He who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.
— John 6:33, NIV

Dear Father in heaven, in Your Word we trust, in Your Word of eternal life, given us in Jesus Christ our Savior.

We build on this Word of life in these days when it seems that everything is losing strength and value, and yet there is so much longing in people’s hearts. You will not let our hope be disappointed.

What you have spoken must be fulfilled. What is promised in Jesus Christ must come into being, not only for a few but for the whole world, for which he died and was raised from the dead.

Be with us. Keep us so fully alive that our lives reflect all the goodness we are allowed to experience and we overcome all the evil which tries to attack us.

We thank you for calling us to life and for renewing us again and again. May your name be praised among us forever. Amen.

A Bible verse and Prayer for the week of May 18:

“And by Him we cry, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs – heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in His glory.”
— Romans 8:15b–17, NIV

“Lord our God, Father of us all, grant that we may know something of You in our hearts. Each one of us is different, with his own particular needs, but we are all Your children and should all become children of Your Spirit.

Then even in the difficulties of life, in the many struggles, temptations, and sorrows, we can keep up our courage and remain in the Spirit, who is victorious in every aspect of life. Protect and strengthen us on all our ways.

We praise You for all You have done and for all the help You have given us. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

A Bible verse and Prayer for the week of May 4:

And He said, “My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” — Exodus 33:14, RSV

Dear Father in heaven, we thank You for guiding us on all our ways with power from on high. We thank You that again and again You have led us through the darkness on a path of light. Looking back, we cannot be thankful enough.

May our hearts turn to You and be filled with quiet certainty in all we are still awaiting. Remember us and remember the many who lie under heavy bo***ge. Let the time come when You will bring a great deliverance to those who are in darkness.

Then we can find meaning for our lives in all that happens, knowing that You have been faithful in everything. You have done more than we asked, more than we can understand. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

A Bible verse & Prayer for the Week of April 6th:

"For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified." -- l Corinthians 2:2, RSV

"Lord our God, Father of us all, bless our community in the name of our Savior Jesus Christ.

May Your Spirit carry out what we are powerless to do, so that we experience strength and joy, something from eternity, and can face life with all its evil, pain, and suffering. For You have drawn us to Yourself, and in spirit, soul, and body we belong to another world, higher than this earthly and passing one.

We want to remain true to this higher world, that Your praise may come from one heart and from one voice, that the name of Jesus Christ may shine in us and show us the way to all that is true and eternal. Amen."

A Prayer & Bible Verse for the week of March 16-22:

"Therefore, I will give Him a portion among the great, and He will divide the spoils with the strong, because He poured out His life unto death, and was numbered with the transgressors. For He bore the sin of many and made intercession for the transgressors." -- Isaiah 53:12, NIV

"Dear Father in heaven, may we receive Your Spirit so that we win the victory over ourselves and over the world around us, not with our human crudeness, force, and clamor, but only through Your Spirit in the name of Jesus Christ. Help each of us in our own particular situation.

We all know there is much evil around us; there is much we must fight. But in Jesus’ name, we want to plunge right in, right into the world, right into whatever suffering is meant for us in the midst of the evil that is not yet overcome.

In Jesus’ name, we go toward the great victory that will come when all who are granted Your joy will praise You with all their hearts, O Father in heaven. Amen."

A Bible verse & Prayer for the week of March 2-8:

"Dear friends, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal that has come on you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice inasmuch as you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed."
- 1 Peter 4:12-13, NIV

Dear Father in heaven, we ask You from our hearts to give us Your peace. Grant that nothing may take Your peace from us, and protect us from all that is evil.

May we always be mindful that we should serve You in self-denial. May we be faithful in all our ways, looking to the great promise You have given each one of us. Keep us under Your protection, as You have always done.

We praise and thank You for all that comes to our hearts from You, making us full of trust and certain of Your further help. Amen.

A Bible verse & Prayer for the week of February 9:

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High, who abides in the shadow of the Almighty, will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress; my God, in whom I trust.” -- Psalm 91:1–2, RSV

"Lord our God, we come into Your presence, for You are our certainty, our refuge, especially in these times when so much is happening to grieve and trouble us.

You are our God and our Savior today and for all time. You have always been our Savior and helper, and You will remain our Savior and helper forever. We praise You and glorify Your name.

Give a new spirit in our day, we pray, new help through the gospel brought by Jesus Christ. May Your name be kept holy, Your kingdom come, and Your will be done on earth as in heaven. Amen."

A Bible verse and Prayer for the week of December 22-28:

“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
— Philippians 4:4–7, NIV

“Dear Father in heaven, let your joy be always in us, Your children. Let Your joy bring light and peace to our lives, no matter what happens around us.

May we serve You in joy, aware of Your peace at all times, so that something of this peace may go out from us to grieving hearts and to regions of the world that are in darkness.

Father in heaven, how many unhappy people look up without knowing where to find help! But You will come to them.

We beseech You, come to those who mourn, and let them find joy and trust for their redemption in Jesus Christ. Amen.”
