We are thrilled to welcome members of Musicians of Ma'alwyck to Bethesda Episcopal Church at the 10am service on 16 August. Guided by their core mission of bringing history to life through provocative musical performances in the Greater Capital Region and beyond, this acclaimed professional chamber ensemble specializes in classical repertoire and historically informed programming. Joining us today are two of the ensemble's distinguished artists: founding director and violinist Ann-Marie Barker Schwarz and flutist Norman Thibodeau. Ann-Marie, who holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music Performance from Boston University and a Master’s in American History from the University at Albany, has spent decades enriching our local arts community as a veteran member of the Glimmerglass Festival Orchestra and a former violinist with the Albany Symphony Orchestra. Sharing the chancel is Norman, an incredibly versatile flutist who has performed with nearly every professional orchestra in the Capital Region and previously served as the assistant principal flutist of the Orquesta Sinfónica del Estado de México. Together, their collaborative artistry beautifully bridges the gap between historical storytelling and sacred worship, offering our congregation a deeply resonant and sophisticated musical experience.
