The Bosnian Hand-Craft project represents a partnership of churches in the United States and the Evangelical Church of Bosnia-Herzegovina. This project helps Bosnian women who are in need provide for their families! Thank You for your support! Your purchase goes a long way! The Story:
From 1992 – 1996 Bosnia Herzegovina was caught up in a civil war that left the country devastated. A quarter of t
he population was either killed or fled the country as refugees. Those who survived are deeply scarred both physically and emotionally. Current Situation:
Today Bosnians are struggling to put their country back together. The economy has been devastated. The unemployment rate nationwide is 45%. Many families are living on a subsistence level only. They devote their time and energy to getting food on the table and shoes for their children. There is no “extra” money for luxuries such as dental and eye care. The Bosnian Handcraft Project seeks to alleviate this problem one family at a time by helping women put food on their family’s table. These heirloom quality items are the result of highly skilled women passing on centuries old patterns and creating some new ones along the way. For many of the women this is an essential source of income for their family. Your purchase of these items goes a long way toward helping needy Bosnians. Thirty dollars can provide a week’s groceries for a family of five. One hundred percent of your gift is invested back into the program. Facts:
A handcraft group in Mostar inspired thedevelopment of the Bosnian
Handcraft Project which is administered by C&MA missionaries in Bosnia-Herzegovina. It began seven years ago with a grant from CAMA Services and has been self-funding for the past six years. Handmade lace, slippers and other items are displayed at Alliance Women retreats or church mission conferences. All proceeds go directly to the project and the women who make these beautiful items. For many of them it is their only source of income. Goals:
1. Financial help for needy families. With a 45% unemployment rate in BiH this project puts food on the table. $30 buys a week’s groceries Bosnia. There are over 60 ladies involved in 6 cities.
2. Outreach /Evangelism - The project is a non-threatening way to reach women who don’t know the love of God. How Can You Help The Women of Bosnia?
