Joseph has been one of the most beloved saints of the Church. In this icon, the saint holds a flowering staff which was the miraculous testimony that signalled God's choice of St. Joseph as the betrothed of the Blessed Virgin. Searching for a righteous man with whom they could entrust the youthful Virgin Mary in marriage, the priests of the Temple called all the men of the tribe of Judah to bring

their staves into the Holy of Holies. The staff of the righteous man Joseph miraculously budded. And so he was chosen to become the spouse of the Blessed Virgin. Joseph's important role in the eternal drama of Christ's birth, the flight into Egypt and the finding in the Temple. The apocryphal "History of Joseph the Carpenter" records that at his holy death St. Joseph was assisted by Christ and the Blessed Virgin.

I wish you all the Paschal blessings and joy our Risen Lord has given us- for He is good, and loves mankind.

I was remiss in my Lenten journey to begin to prepare for and solicit your prayers and patronage for our St Gabriel annual summer camp.

This is such a worthwhile and valuable ministry of our Western Rite Communities. As always, attendees pay no tuition or fees - the generosity of our parishes and faithful have always covered the costs.

Please make announcements in church and bulletins etc for campers, staff and prayers and donations.

Suggested donation to cover a single camper is $180 for the week
