Conclusion of the Back, Back , Back story; My Close Encounter of the First Kind ( God ) happened on Saturday. As far as I can remember Sunday was a typical Sunday. Got up, got dressed in those same Sunday bests. Went to church ( Roman Catholic ), at this time as a little side note The Catholic Liturgy was still in Latin. The Sunday services were very regal and majestic. The church was dark and we were packed in like sardines. There was incense burning everywhere. My sister Karen had taken to having visions of the Mother Mary and dreams. She also began fainting in church on a semi regular basis which was both good and bad. Bad because it scared the " you know what" out of me but good because it usually got us out of the service early! LOL. After church we went home and ate Sunday Dinner which was the biggest most fancy meal of the week. After that my father put on the football game. Everyone in New England were NY Giants fans because it wasn't till two years later that we got our own team the Boston Patriots ( 1960 ). We kids went out to play. Monday was a whole nother ball of wax! My mother did her usual routine to get us up and at em'. She moved through the House calling out our names. Kathy, Karen, Tommy. She would repeat this cycle a few times. My sister Edie was special needs and Debbie wouldn't start school till next year. I was always the first up or I'd have to wait forever to get into the bathroom. This day, Kathy got up first followed by Karen. Debbie did what Debbie always did which was to stick to me like glue. I was still in bed and found that I could not no matter how hard I tried move my legs. I was paralysed from the waist down. I had Debbie go get our mother. My mom came in the room and first didn't believe me. Then she tried massaging my feet and legs. They felt kind of like they do when they " fall asleep " but it didn't work. Kathy and Karen went on to school. My mother wanting to keep me in her sight picked me up and placed me onto the living room couch. I can still see and hear her clear as day on the phone calling " Fitzy" our family doctor. His name was, Dr. Fitzgerald and he'd delivered all 5 of the Harvey children. The sixth ( Mary Ellen) waited till several years later to come along. We call her our Irish Catholic Surprise child. I in the meantime fell asleep right after my mother told me Fitzy would get here asap! Yes, dear doctors really did make housecalls once upon a time. As soon as I fell asleep I began to dream the most realistic intense color dream I've ever dreamt in my life. My best friend,Roger who lived next door and was 7 years older than me and the only " brother" I would ever have and I were walking along Main St. In the Dowtown are of Worcester, Massachusetts. We turned down Franklin St. I think we were going to the movies. When we got a block down Franklin St. The sky turned pitch black and it began to pour down rain and hail, golf ball sized hail that is. We ran down some stairs to our right that led down to stores and restaurants. Mind you at 5 years old I had no idea that this really was how Franklin St. Was set up. Fortunately the door to an empty restaurant or club was open. Roger pushed me through the door to safety but immediately the door slammed behind me. I was on one side of it and Roger was locked out on the other side. As soon as,the door closed the whole place became the darkest dark I'd ever seen. Then suddenly I felt hot stinky breath coming down the Back of my neck. I turned and saw two beet red eyes bearing down on me. I ran! I went over and under tables. I ran like my life depended on it because it did!!! The eyes kept getting closer and closer. I knew if he caught me I would never wake up again. I knew I would never see Roger or my parents or my sister's again. Just as he was about to pounce on me I made it to the door again, I reached for it and it burst as violently open as it had closed but now the skies were completely clear and sunny. Roger took my hand and then I woke up. Fitzy and my mom were standing over me. I got up and could walk without any difficulty. I think Gladys and Fitzy thought I was pulling a fast one but I knew it was related to what happened to me on Saturday. The day the call of God comes on someone the devil immediately begins to attack! I know that on that Monday morning my life was held in the balance . I was on the precipice between life and death. I chose life, God had my back and so it began.....
