Allfather Kindred

Allfather Kindred We are an "Earth-Centric" Asatru Church. Allfather Kindred focuses on our European roots from historic and spiritual aspects.

Mission Statement:
ALLFATHER KINDRED will expand into a strong and viable community group of like-minded persons. Hail All,
The goal of our Asatru Church and its Kindred members is to promote and educate interested persons about the spiritual practices and beliefs of the Germanic people. Allfather Kindred Asatru Church focuses on our European roots f

rom historic and spiritual aspects. The Kindred will distance itself from any element, be it organizations or individuals with agendas outside of our goal and scope. We are a family friendly group whose members are closely connected to their heritage and who revere their ancestral lineage. The Jungian concept of the "collective unconscious" is an integral part of our belief system.

Hail the Gods: I am unsure why I felt compelled to post this today. What I do know however, is that a Kindred or Kindred spirit may need to read this. I hope the message is well received: “Sins of others will enslave the soul if one fails to transcend their transgressions. We may never forget or forgive a wrong, but the soul is set free once we release the pain into the Ginnungagap.” Die Goetter mit Euch.

Hail the Gods: Kindred should be a shield against stress of the Hurricane experience. Spiritual beliefs and customs are as varied as practitioners. The overarching commonality between spiritual people is the positive mental health effect. Spirituality affects one’s mental health in various ways, including a core sense of purpose and meaning and a distinct sense of self-worth. Most of us know that spirituality and religion are not the same but share aspects of commonality. You can be spiritual without practicing a specific religion. Religious people on the other hand follow a particular faith and may be connected with specific groups or traditions. Here are several ways that spirituality can support mental health: “You may feel a higher sense of purpose, peace, hope, and meaning. You may experience more confidence, self-esteem, and self-control. It can help you make sense of your experiences in life. When unwell, it can help you feel inner strength and result in faster recovery. Those in a spiritual community may have more support. You may work toward better relationships with yourself and others.” I am proud to see how the spiritual aspect of our faith at Allfather Kindred represents all aspects of this definition. Each Kindred member and Kindred Spirit has demonstrated their familial attitude toward each other. Whenever my heart is heavy with life’s troubles, our Kindred has become the uplifting force for which I am grateful. Die Goetter mit Uns.

Hail the Gods: We Hail you God of Gods, protect our Kindred and Kindred Spirits from harm. Allow us to invoke the Ninth that you know: “When I am desperate the wagon I aim to secure from the flood, then I turn the wind away from the waves and calm the seas around me.” To mighty Njord, God of winds and waters, safeguard our homes from destruction and cause ocean, river, and stream waters to stop at our doors edge. Mighty Donar, shield us from peril and lend us your strength to protect all who share Haus and Hof. The Gods With Us.

Hail the Gods: During medieval times honor was understood as both internal and external. Internal meant a sense of absolute righteousness in all aspects of life, in other words the course of action a person would choose when not in the public eye. Externally, an honorable person is principled and would not waiver or falter during times of discord. The honorable person needs no riches. A person’s true wealth is measured by their rectitude of conduct in all matters. Honor can be understood as social capital. Fruit for thought: “Honor before honorable. Honor and Oaths mean more than Land and People. Honor follows those who flee from it and remains elusive to those who hunt for it.” (donnerhaus.eu) To our Kindred, this is what we think of when reflecting in part on our Noble Virtues. More to follow. Looking forward to Wednesday. The Gods with Us. (JG24)

Hail the Gods: Philosophically speaking, time is the continuum of existence. It includes events that occur in seemingly irreversible succession from the past into the present, giving birth to the future. When our faith requires a gift for a gift, think of “time” being humans’ most valuable asset. Let’s look at the time in years of a persons life. An 80-year-old lived 29,200.00 days (+/- for leap year). That same 80-year-old experienced 80 Yule gatherings, 80 Birthdays, 80 New Years celebrations. When defining time in varied context, we begin to understand the true significance of the term: “Life is Short.” May the Gods and Goddesses gift us beauty, health, and peace during the snapshot of existence. The Gods with Us. (JG24)

Hail the Gods: Ancestor worship is a cornerstone of our faith. We venerate those who have gone before us. Their love for us and our connection to them is the cement that binds the faithful to the past, present, and future. Ancestor worship refers to rituals designed to commemorate and honor the spirits of an individual’s deceased forebears. This form of worship is sometimes associated with Confucian filial piety. To the practitioner of the Germanic Faith, no aspect of ancestor worship crosses the boundaries into foreign religious traditions, nor would we incorporate foreign practices into our ritual rites. Our faith's mainstay is rooted in geographical regions traditions and transcends socioeconomic groups. The ancestral well is not a mere phrase, it is the element of purification and a means to living with, for, and through the Gods. Those who have abandoned their ancestral ways have become lost souls. The Gods with Us. (JG24)

Hail the Gods: Snapshot explanation of wyrd and orlog. Deeds forecast ones character, resulting in the individuals fate. Life is replete with choices. What is not part of an individual’s choice is the wyrd. Wyrd and orlog are concepts linked to fate and destiny in Norse mythology. The wyrd is the interconnectedness of events and individual destinies. Orlog is the overarching cosmic order that governs the world. Both concepts contribute to the Norse understanding of inevitability and interconnected nature of fate. The Norns, Urd (past), Verdandi (present-unfolding moment), and Skuld (future) weave the Gods and humans “wyrd.” The wyrd is not a concept related to Karma, but rather a construct that offers choices which may lead to individual fortune or misfortune depending on how we interact within the web of wyrd as it is governed by “orlog.” I like to think of a checks and balances system. Reward for the pure soul, struggle for the impure one. The Gods with Us. (JG24)

Hail the Gods: Baldr/Baldur the fair one. He is the second son of Allfather and the Goddess F***g. He is a God of such beauty that light emanates from his body as beautiful as the hues of the sun. In some accounts love, peace, forgiveness, justice, and rectitude of conduct are said to be a part of his divine gifts. Baldur’s wife is Nanna and their son is Forseti. His Hall, Breideblick, is among the most beautiful Halls of Asgard. His tragic “wyrd” is his death, of which there are numerous accounts in various sources. One such account is that following a nightmare in which he saw his death, his mother pleaded with every object in every realm never to hurt Baldr. All objects made this vow except the mistletoe. F***g had thought it too young to pledge an oath. When Loki, the mischief-maker, heard of this, he fashioned a magical spear from this plant (in some later versions, an arrow). He hurried to the place where the gods were indulging in their pastime of hurling objects at Baldr, which would bounce off without harming him. Loki gave the spear to Baldr's brother, the blind god Höðr, who inadvertently killed his brother with it. For this act, Odin and the giantess Rindr gave birth to Vali who grew to adulthood within a day and slew Höðr. It is told that Baldur will be reborn following Ragnarock. The Gods with Us. (JG24)

Hail the Gods: Our Gods guide us, protect, uplift, and Love us. They do all these things, even when we forsake them. The High Ones of our Ancestors are living Gods, not jealous or vengeful. They do not threaten our souls with eternal damnation; but instead, gift love when we need it most. May our faith grow stronger each day and stand the test of time. Be proud to be among those who heard the call to return to the ancestral well. Respect and reverence for our ancestors is an absolute for those of our faith. The Gods with Us. (JG24)
