We can become so afraid of the superficial that we reject the supernatural.
We can become so concerned about excess of Holy Spirit that we Become numb to the absence of the Holy Spirit
We can become so afraid of counterfeit fire that we become comfortable with no fire at all.
Paul gives us the biblical balance in 1 Thessalonians 5:19-21 . “Do not quench the Spirit. Do not despise prophecies, but test everything; hold fast what is good.”

We do not have to choose between being biblical and being supernatural.
The biblical Church was supernatural.

Sin does not merely make us guilty; it makes the presence of a holy God frightening to us. In Eden, before sin, Adam and Eve enjoyed God’s presence. After they sinned, Scripture says, “the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God” (Genesis 3:8). The God they were created to enjoy suddenly became the One from whom they wanted to hide.

Sin makes us run from the presence we were created for; Jesus reconciles us so that the presence we once feared becomes the presence we can finally call home.

What was broken in Eden was not discarded by God. In his love, he came down for the broken. Through the blood of Jesus and the victory of the empty tomb, the broken our restored, redeemed and given a new life. Kingdom life is not theory

Yesterday, we wrapped up the Sermon on the mount series and as Jesus nears the end, he becomes very practical because Kingdom life is not a theory. It shows up in relationships, in prayer, in integrity, in forgiveness, in peace-making, in daily trust etc. Jesus gives us three pictures, three warnings and three invitations for us to decide , how we want to live our lives....
