Located at Church and Main Streets in Saranac Lake, in the heart of the Adirondacks, Saint Luke’s is a faithful community of Christians. Founded in 1878, throughout its long history the parish has welcomed all persons; we seek to practice what St. Benedict taught his monks and their households: “All guests who present themselves are to be welcomed as Christ” (Rule of Benedict 53:1). Our parish is

centered on the worship of God and is committed to embracing all who come here with the love of Christ and to responding abundantly to the needs of our community and our world. Rite II Eucharist

“But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.”

Washing of the feet is often done on Holy Thursday, symbolizing the way Jesus washed the feet of his disciples before the last supper. Do you know the significance of that act? What can we learn from Jesus’ behavior?

“For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you.”
John 13:15

Did you know that the front stairs leading up to Samaritan House are called the "Small Steps"? Rev. Bill Small was dedicated to Ecumenical work for his entire ministry and was a major force in the Ecumenical Council when Samaritan House was founded. The stairs were dedicated with a plaque in his name in April of 2022.

Holy week is nearly upon us. There are many services and opportunities for reflection at St. Luke's as we follow Jesus on the journey to the cross.

If you have questions about any of these events, feel free to reach out.

A word from Susan, our senior warden: "My prayer for each of you is that you continually re-discover the Hope and Renewal which is founded on Jesus, and allow His Love to guard you and guide you through all things."

"It is so easy to get distracted.

Although Lent calls us to renewed focus on our relationship with God, so much draws our attention away.

What should I make for dinner? Does my mailbox need shoveling again? What a cute puppy video!

But it's important to remember that Christ is with us on our journey: guiding our way and guarding our steps towards His ultimate purpose. As we find our attention divided - or gone altogether! - He gently, persistently invites us to come back, to turn away from that other stuff, to spend time with Him.

May we all keep releasing those interruptions.

He is ever patient, and we can always return."

Our Senior Warden, Susan Nagle Olsen, shares these thoughts with us as we continue through Lent.

St. Luke's in the News!

Thank you to the Adirondack Daily Enterprise and Aaron Marbone for covering our very own Rev. Denise during her ashes-to-go offering on Ash Wednesday last week.

She really enjoyed being out in the community, talking and praying with many people who stopped by.
