Shiloh Baptist Church

Shiloh Baptist Church At Shiloh, we hold high the Gospel of Jesus Christ as the unifying center around which everything else is built and from which all ministry flows.

Do you feel daily urgency to run to the Lord? Your wellbeing depends on it, according to Proverbs.

“The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous man runs into it and is safe” (Proverbs 18:10).

The “name of the LORD” references His person and character. The Lord Jesus protects believers from any threats to His plans for us like a fortified tower protects a city militarily. As the person under attack does not stroll to the tower but runs, the believer must run to Jesus daily for spiritual thriving. Hurry to pray and read your Bible. Hurry to obey and sing praises. Hurry to be involved in your church and serve others. Then do it again tomorrow. It is the only route to stability and spiritual health.

Have a great Thursday.

Do you accept and act on correction? Doing so is a mark of wisdom, according to Proverbs.

“A rebuke goes deeper into a man of understanding than a hundred blows into a fool” (Proverbs 17:10).

The old adage says to let negative words roll off you like water off a duck’s back. Proverbs says that is not always good advice. A wise person uses rebukes as occasions for self-examination. If they have merit, he corrects his ways and thanks God for bringing a timely word to help him. If the rebuke is meritless, only then does the wise person let it roll off. One mark of a fool is that he lets every rebuke roll off, never realizing the Lord sent some of those rebukes to make him more Christ-like and joyful.

Have a great Wednesday.

TONIGHT - Messy Game Night and Sensory Night

Bring your kids tonight for a fun time!

6 years old and under will be having a blast with the sensory night! Bubbles, water play, and sidewalk chalk!

However, 7 years to 5th grade will be experiencing a messy game night! After dinner, we will head to the Back Field and play a host of games guaranteed to leave memories! Don't worry, even if your kids do not want to get messy, there still will be a few games that will be minimal mess for them to participate in. But for the brave ones, they need to be sure to wear clothes that can get absolutely filthy and bring a towel! You're going to want us to hose them down afterwards!

It all goes down TONIGHT at 6:30 p.m. Join us at 5:45 for a chicken tender dinner.

Do you measure success by whether you achieve the goals you set for yourself? Proverbs says there is a better way.

“The heart of a man plans his way, but the LORD establishes his steps” (Proverbs 16:9).

Setting goals and planning are good things. People without direction either wander or are idle, neither of which is positive. But success is not measured in the attainment of self-made goals. God may have a different plan for you than your own. He establishes your steps. Success is measured by whether you trust and obey God along whatever path He takes you. The only sure way to know the path God planned for you is to look back at where He has taken you. The only sure way to succeed in the future is obeying His Word by the power of His Holy Spirit.

Have a great Tuesday.

What are you doing to foster a healthy heart, spiritually speaking? The health of your inner person makes all the difference in your level of joy.

“A glad heart makes a cheerful face, but by sorrow of heart the spirit is crushed” (Proverbs 15:13).

Our culture thinks tending to externals properly makes a person joyful. A healthy body, sound investment portfolio, ample leisure, nice possessions, proper education, and your life is on track, we are told. Proverbs says otherwise. Your heart, the invisible part of your being sometimes called your soul, makes the difference. Discover the sin and disordered thinking in your heart. Confess it to God and ask Him to change you. Fill yourself with God’s Word daily. Submit your life to the lordship of Jesus daily. Be filled daily with the Holy Spirit. Then you will have joy.

Have a great Monday.

🎉🪮 Crazy Hair Night was a blast! 🪮🎉

From messy hair to silly hats, we had a night full of laughter and fun!

🧩 We tackled riddles, memory games, and other challenges that got our brains working.

💭 More importantly, we were reminded to think about the things that honor God. Philippians 4:8 encourages us to focus on what is true, honorable, right, pure, lovely, and admirable. In a world that can sometimes make us feel discouraged or defeated, it’s good to remember: God doesn’t make junk! When we reflect on His goodness, our thoughts are drawn toward things that glorify Him.

How often do you hold a thought without expressing it? Your response may reveal more than you realize about your relationship with the Lord.

“Whoever guards his mouth preserves his life; he who opens wide his lips comes to ruin” (Proverbs 13:3).

Holding our tongues keeps us out of trouble. Saying too much brings ruin—in relationships, in finances, in employment, in ministry. This verse is not a license to remain silent about truth that must be told. To do that is cowardice and sin. The problem comes when we mistake words that should never be spoken with truth that must be told. Think of Jesus, who “was oppressed, and [who] was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth; like a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and like a sheep that before its shearers is silent, so he opened not his mouth” (Isaiah 53:7). The holiness of controlled speech pleases our Lord, who held His tongue on the way to the cross.

Have a great Friday.
