This Sunday will be my final Sunday serving at Shepherd of the Valley. As I reflect on 40 years in ministry, it feels fitting that this chapter closes during Easter—a season of resurrection and new beginnings.
Looking out over this beautiful valley we’ve shared—so clearly reflected in the life of our church—I’m reminded of how richly God has blessed this place and this congregation. It has been a true privilege to serve alongside all of you these past six and a half years.
We began in the uncertainty of COVID and learned together what it meant to be the Church in adversity—through Zoom worship, parking lot services with a stage for our musicians, and even FM radio broadcasts as you gathered in your cars.
Through disruptions like the roundabout construction and beyond, the Lord has faithfully sustained us, blessing us with meaningful outreach, fellowship, and shared joy.
As I step away, I leave you with the words of our risen Lord: “Peace (Shalom) be with you.” The Good Shepherd has guided us every step of the way, and He will continue to lead you forward. Your story is not over—where God gives breath, He gives mission.
In the months ahead, Shepherd of the Valley will be in good hands with guest preachers already being lined up as preparations are being put into place to call a new pastor. Please keep this process in your prayers, trusting that God will raise up the shepherd who is just right for Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran. 🙏
Christ is risen—His peace is with you, and He is not finished with you yet!
