Join us this Saturday, October 24th, from 3 to 5pm to view "Bad Faith 2026” — An Urgent Documentary for Our Times

Released in 2024, “Bad Faith: Christian Nationalism’s Unholy War on Democracy” was an urgently timely documentary that helped explain the long and outsized influence of the so-called Christian Right (a better name is White Christian Nationalism) in our history and how it has led us to the rise of the MAGA movement, the January 6th attack on the U.S. Capitol, Project 2025 and more. Now updated for the post-2024 election era and current events, this film tells an urgent and important story about how we got to our present dangerous moment for democracy, freedom and justice. “Bad Faith” has screened all over the country and garnered awards at several film festivals.

The Peace & Social Justice Committee invites us to attend a screening and discussion at UUSM on Oct.24th at 3PM. Parking will be available at the UCLA Health parking structure at 16th & Arizona. Note: please park on Levels 3&4 and do not block other vehicles. Free parking in the UCLA Health structure at Arizona & 16th (enter from 16th St.) will be available. Childcare will also be available.

We will watch the film in the Sanctuary and be joined by members of the filmmaking team and other special guests. The community discussion that follows will partly focus on the many ways that we and our allied groups (religious and secular) are working to counter the narrative and aims of White Christian Nationalism. Reception to follow in Forbes Hall.

Our panel discussion will include Rev. Janet McKeithen, local justice leader and minister of the Church in Ocean Park, and Kevin Bolling, national Executive Director of the Secular Student Alliance.

This event is free and open to the public. Donations to the Faith In Action Fund will be gratefully accepted to recoup costs.

Contact [email protected] to RSVP (helpful but not necessary). *Content note: The film and the trailer below contain depictions of violence as seen in news coverage of the Jan. 6th event and incidents that have occurred during the new administration
