The Celebration - Santa Fe, NM

The Celebration - Santa Fe, NM The Celebration is an independent spiritual community located in Santa Fe, New Mexico. We meet every Sunday at 10:30 AM at the NEA Building

We are a group of people committed to opening our hearts to all life, all people, all paths, and learning to embrace everything, everyone and especially ourselves in unconditional love. We are committed to doing this in the context of true community, which includes total safety for everyone to be exactly who they are, with their dreams, aspirations, desires, and contributions in the group process.

We realize that each of us is in fact a sacred part of the Oneness of Everything, which is to say a part of God, and beyond this we endorse no particular creed or dogma. Our invocation sums up our purpose: “We join together to celebrate the splendor of God’s love—cherishing all life, honoring all paths, rejoicing in the sacred dance of All That Is. Living in the power of all-embracing love, we affirm our community and acknowledge the Divine nature of our humanity.”

Everyone is welcome to join us on Sunday Mornings at 10:30 AM

As the director of a 75-year-old study on adult development, Waldinger has unprecedented access to data on true happiness and satisfaction. In this talk, he shares three important lessons learned from the study as well as some practical, old-as-the-hills wisdom on how to build a fulfilling, long life.

Our speaker for Sunday, May 17th is Glenn Parry, "Original Love: Stories To Heal the Earth."
Original love is love from the origin, or Source, and as such, transcends any limitations of time or space. It is love that has always been with us, love that is timeless and whole.
Original love stories may be old, but they are still relevant today. The ancient myth of Psyche and Eros, often thought of as merely an erotic love story, is actually a guiding myth for our times. Psyche proves herself by solving four tasks assigned to her by Aphrodite, the Goddess of Beauty, and solves all of these tasks by employing allies from the natural world. Psyche doesn’t represent our individual soul, but the World Soul (Anima Mundi). It is Mother Earth that moderns are being called to remember and protect. It is often said today that we need a new story to heal the Earth, but arguably we only need a better understanding of the original, old stories (our original instructions).
Glenn Aparicio Parry, PhD, is a two-time Nautilus award-winning author of Original Thinking and Original Politics, the first two thirds of the trilogy that preceded his new book Original Love: The Timeless Source of Wholeness. He writes from a remote location in Placitas, NM, where he lives amid wild horses, coyote, deer, bobcat, and mountain lion with his wife Tomoko, dog Momo, and cat Cappuccino.

Poetry is a lot like meditation: both are grounded in being awake, aware, observant and present with all that is going on within and around us. Wayne Lee (wayneleepoet.com) has been meditating and writing poetry since he was a teenager in Bellingham, Wash. His twin practices have been key to his creativity and spiritual life. In 2024 he started an online community called Tuesday Poetry Practice that meets virtually every Tuesday at 11 a.m. MDT. Our speaker for Sunday, April 12th is Lilyane, “Love and Wonder for Women Who No Longer Bleed.” Live music with Martha Reich Braden.
Lilyane is new to Santa Fe. She felt very led here. Her marriage ended abruptly last year, and she took to the road for three months. Santa Fe was her first stop, and it unrelentingly beckoned her back. Santa Fe has been miraculously welcoming, loving, kind, and healing for her. She is deeply grateful.
As for her spiritual path, it has been eclectic. She grew up in a non-religious home. Then became very religious in young adulthood. But since her late 30s, she has been on more of a deeply personal, spiritual path (mostly Christian mystical.) Btw, she is an INFJ and a Reflector (Human Design).
Her most profound spiritual growth has been since entering the menopausal transition. What a ride, an initiation! So many Dark Nights of the Soul. So many awakenings and fruitions of the spiritual seeking that began in her younger years. But much of the time, like so many other women, she was winging it. She is now fascinated by the unprecedented phenomenon of “modern menopause,” at the individual and collective level. She will center her reflections on inspirations from this rite of passage.

Our speaker for Sunday, April 5th is Arthur Blue, "My Journey with Saint Francis."
I think my journey as a Catholic probably started with my grandmother Angelina. By the time she was seven, her mother had died and at the age of eight her French speaking family moved from Quebec to the United States. Back then a birth was recorded by the baptism records of the church which unfortunately burned down. Her illiterate father did not know her birthday, so that information was lost with the death of her mother.Perhaps it's a metaphor for many immigrant families who come here with no documentation of their birth. And so any connection with my only Catholic roots were most likely lost.
When I was 21, a friend and I hitchhiked to Tucson with a sense of adventure to escape the harsh New England winter. This is when I first fell in love with the Southwest. Today I will tell the story of how I met a Franciscan monk named Brother John, and how he touched my life. A part of Brother John stayed with me when at the age of 30, I joined a lay Franciscan order myself. This was another grand adventure in my love affair with the mystic Saint Francis that changed my life profoundly.
During Covid, I came across the book, "Holy Personal, Looking for Small Private Places of Worship" about adobe chapels in the Southwest which brought Santa Fe into my consciousness with another Saint Francis connection and prompted me to move here in March of 2023. My three years here at The Celebration have been three of the happiest years of my life.

Our speaker for Sunday, March 29th is Ananda Forest , "Journey to Hopi."
Sometimes, life sucks. Like when you go away for the weekend and come home to find all your favorite jewelry gone. The pieces that made the altar on your recent vision quest. Pieces from your parents who aren’t alive anymore. Empty spaces that were once full.
I tried to cultivate nonattachment. Told myself that jewelry was vanity. But something about Hopi silver, the stark perfect patterns, the heavy feel, gnawed at me. I missed that buckle, the bracelets. I felt naked without them.
In the end, I decided to make a pilgrimage to Hopiland. Jewelry might be vanity, but this time every penny would go to the people. I would visit the legendary silversmiths on Second Mesa and meet the men who made the silver sing.
Jeff told me just before I left that I would have my mind blown. I had no idea how right he would be.
The first thing Ananda Forest ever wanted to be was an Indian. Although, 23 and Me eventually disabused him of this dream, he never stopped longing. He has done four four-day vision quests/fasts since 1996 and has poured water every month in lodge for 29 years. He also has taught Native American History and Cultures at the Community College of Vermont since 2005.
