"The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want." - Psalm 23:1

Psalm 23 reminds us that God is not distant or indifferent toward His people. David describes Him as a shepherd who provides, leads, restores, protects, and stays with His sheep.

Even when the path leads through “the valley of the shadow of death,” David says, “You are with me.”

The comfort of Psalm 23 isn't that we will never walk through difficult places. It’s that we never have to walk through them alone.

What we fill our hearts and minds with will shape the person we become.

Psalm 1 begins by contrasting two paths: one shaped by the influence of the wicked and one shaped by delighting in God’s Word.

The difference isn’t simply where these two people end up, it’s what they are continually allowing to influence them.

The person who delights in God’s Word is compared to “a tree planted by streams of water”: steady, nourished, and fruitful.

God’s Word gives us something solid to build our lives around.
