St. Barbara Parish is located at Old Mission Santa Barbara in Santa Barbara, CA.

We are a faith community that strives to live the gospel in prayer, formation, evangelization, outreach and stewardship in the Franciscan tradition.

Come journey with us through the most sacred days of the Christian year as we remember Christ's passion, celebrate His resurrection, and rejoice in the hope of new life through our Holy Week and Easter liturgies!

Our liturgies begin on Holy Thursday (April 2) with Mass of the Lord's Supper at 7:00 p.m. in the Mission church and continue on Good Friday (April 3) with Stations of the Cross at 12:00 noon in the olive garden and Solemn Liturgy of the Lord's Passion at 3:00 p.m. in the church.

Our Holy Saturday (April 4) celebration will take place at 7:30 p.m. beginning with the lighting of the sacred fire in the Mission plaza, followed by Easter Vigil Mass in the church.

On Easter Sunday (April 5) Mass will take place in the church at 7:30 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. (with parish choir). There will also be an OUTDOOR MASS in the Mission plaza at 11:00 a.m. (with 300 chairs provided). RESERVATIONS ARE NOT REQUIRED FOR ANY LITURGY.

Whether you attend Mass regularly or are looking for a place to celebrate this holy season, we look forward to celebrating the joy and hope of Easter with you!

There is no advance registration and the church fills up quickly, so be sure to arrive early! We look forward to welcoming you!

Is there anything more festive than Christmas caroling in the beautiful Mission church with the St. Barbara Parish choir? We don't think so! Experience it for yourself by joining us this Saturday, December 20 at 6:30 p.m. for Family Christmas Stories and Carols as we bring the spirit of Christmas to life with beautiful music and readings/stories that capture the joy of the season.

Bring your whole family and join in as we raise our voices in song! Following Stories and Carols, there will be a special blessing of the creche on the Mission lawn.

Please join us in the beautiful Mission church next Saturday, December 20 at 6:30 p.m. for Family Christmas Stories and Carols, as we bring the spirit of the season to life through joyful music and timeless holiday readings!

Bring the whole family and raise your voices to sing beloved carols with our parish choir and hear stories that capture the true spirit of Christmas! The blessing of our Christmas creche will follow (live animals arrive on Dec. 23rd!). All are welcome and no RSVP is required.

*** This event replaces our usual outdoor carol singing celebration due to the ADA ramp construction project currently underway on the Mission grounds.

7:00 p.m. Prayer Service (Mission church)
A candlelit service of prayer and music recalling the passing of St. Francis into eternal life.

Saturday, October 4 – Feast of St. Francis of Assisi
10:30 a.m. Mass (Mission church)
A reception will follow on the front portico

Sunday, October 5 – Blessing of the Animals
12:30 p.m. (Mission lawn)
Bring your furry (and non-furry!) friends for a special blessing as we give praise to God through the beauty of creation and the lives of all creatures great and small!

All are welcome!

Please join us in the Mission church at 10:00 a.m. this Thursday, July 31 for La Misa del Presidente, a special Fiesta Mass honoring El Presidente and the Old Spanish Days Board, and celebrating the long-standing relationship between the Old Mission and Old Spanish Days. The Mass will be followed by a festive reception in the Mission's Sacred Garden. All are welcome!

At 6:44 a.m. on June 29, 1925, a powerful earthquake devastated Santa Barbara, killing 11 people and destroying or damaging much of downtown. It was a pivotal moment in Santa Barbara’s history.

Please join us this Sunday, June 29 at 2:00 p.m. in front of the Mission church for an Interfaith Prayer Service, which will honor the memory of the 11 people who lost their lives due to the earthquake, and will affirm the importance of faith communities working together in times of crisis.

Holy Week is here and we hope you will join us in prayer and celebration during these solemn holy days! Our liturgy begins this Thursday, April 17 with our Holy Thursday Mass of the Lord's Supper at 7:00 p.m. in the Mission church, and continues on Good Friday (April 18) with Stations of the Cross at 12:00 noon in the olive garden, and our Good Friday Solemn Liturgy of the Lord's Passion at 3:00 p.m. in the Mission church.

The peak of our celebration begins on Holy Saturday, April 19 at 8:00 p.m. with the lighting of the sacred fire in the church plaza, followed by Easter Vigil Mass.

On Easter Sunday, April 20, Mass will take place in the Mission church at 7:30 a.m., 9:00 a.m. (with parish choir), and a special OUTDOOR MASS in the Mission plaza at 11:00 a.m. (with 300 chairs provided). No reservations are required for any liturgy.

There's no better way to kick your Christmas spirit into high gear than our annual Christmas Carol Sing-Along in front of the beautiful Mission church! Join us this Saturday, December 21 at 7:00 p.m. Following the carol singing, there will be a special blessing of our Christmas creche on the Mission lawn. Bundle up and bring the whole family!
