“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” — Matthew 11:28.

In the 4th commandment, God reminds us that we were never meant to live as though everything depends on us. The Sabbath is not a burden, but a gift — a weekly invitation to rest our bodies, quiet our souls, and trust again in the God who sustains all things. Through Jesus, the Sabbath is not removed, but fulfilled more deeply, as we learn to find true rest in Him.

“You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain, for the LORD will not hold him guiltless who takes his name in vain.” — Exodus 20:7

The 3rd Commandment reminds us that God’s name is not small, casual, or empty — it is holy, weighty, and glorious. In Scripture, God’s name represents who He is: Creator, Redeemer, Covenant Lord, and Savior. To “take the Lord’s name in vain” is not only about speech, but about bearing His name carelessly through our words, worship, and lives. As followers of Christ, we carry His name everywhere we go.

“He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation.”
— Colossians 1:15
We don’t worship God by remaking Him in our own image, but by receiving Him as He has revealed Himself in Christ. The second commandment in Exodus 20 reminds us that God is not controlled, contained, or manipulated by human hands. He is the living God who made us in His image, restores that image through Jesus, and calls us to worship Him in spirit and truth.

“You shall have no other gods before me.” Exodus 20:3

We began our journey through the Ten Commandments with the first command. We were reminded that every heart worships something, but only God is worthy of the highest place in our lives. In Christ, we see the One who gave His all to God and gave His all for us, so that we might draw near, be forgiven, and worship the Lord with everything we have.

“The Pharisee is so fixated on the woman and comparing himself to her, thinking he is better than her, and he’s not reflecting on his own heart and noticing his own sin and failing to realize that he should be on the floor next to her worshiping Jesus.”

Luke 7:36–50 reminds us that the difference between Simon and the sinful woman was not that one needed grace and the other didn’t — it was that only one recognized her need for mercy.

What should our neighbors see when they look at the church? A family of God’s children who love one another, joyfully obey their Father, and overcome the world through faith in Jesus Christ.

“For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome. For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world.” — 1 John 5:3–4

Phillipians 4:5-7

5 Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; 6 do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

The Law is God’s. The Law is Good.

God’s law is not a burden given to slaves, but a gift given to a redeemed people. Before the commandments were ever spoken, God reminded Israel of His grace: “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery” (Exodus 20:2). The commands come after redemption, not before it.

In the same way, Christians do not obey in order to be saved, we obey because we have been saved through Christ. The law still matters because it reveals the holy character of God and shows us what a life of love and worship looks like.

Three months after the Exodus, Israel stood free in the wilderness, yet their freedom was not meant to end in wandering or self-discovery. Exodus 19 shows that God brought His people out of slavery so He could bring them to Himself, for worship, communion, and life in His presence.

Moses went up the mountain at God’s call, spoke before Him, and the Lord answered him, showing that redemption is not only rescue from bo***ge but being drawn near to God Himself.

We remembered Christ’s death on Good Friday and rejoiced in His life on Easter Sunday. Together we reflected on the cross, where Jesus bore our sin in love, and we celebrated the empty tomb, where death was defeated forever. Good Friday is called “good” because through the suffering of Christ, sinners are brought near to God. Easter is glorious because the grave could not hold our Savior. “For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that He might bring us to God.” — 1 Peter 3:18
What a joy to gather as a church family in worship, prayer, fellowship, and celebration. We sang with thankful hearts, heard again the good news of salvation, and were reminded that because Jesus lives, all who trust in Him have eternal life. “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live.” — John 11:25
A special thank you to Anabel, Lily, and Rosie for beautifully setting up our photo booth this year and helping make the celebration even more memorable. We are grateful for everyone who served and joined us this Resurrection weekend.
He is risen indeed—and because He lives, we have hope today and forever.
