🪷Vesak Celebration 2026
Insight Buddhist Church – Santa Ana, California
Namo Buddhaya. 🙏
With deep faith, reverence, and gratitude, we are honored to announce a very special and sacred occasion during this year’s Vesak Celebration at Insight Buddhist Church in Santa Ana, California.
On Saturday, May 30, sacred Buddha Bone Relics and Arahanta Bone Relics preserved through the lineage of a respected Sri Lankan Buddhist monk will be respectfully brought in ceremonial procession to the temple.
The sacred relics will then be publicly displayed for devotees and visitors beginning at 1:00 PM for viewing, veneration, offerings, and blessings.
In the Buddhist tradition, relics are deeply honored as sacred reminders of the Buddha and the enlightened disciples who fully realized the path of liberation, wisdom, compassion, and peace.
🌻What Are Buddha Relics?
Buddha Relics are sacred remains associated with Siddhattha Gotama Buddha — the Fully Enlightened One who compassionately taught the Dhamma for the liberation and wellbeing of all beings over 2,500 years ago.
According to the Buddhist tradition, after the Buddha’s Parinibbāna, seven of the Buddha’s bone relics remained unbroken, while many other relics appeared in various small forms and sizes, traditionally compared to mustard seeds, broken rice, and pearl-like particles. These sacred relics were respectfully preserved, divided, and enshrined in stupas and temples throughout the Buddhist world.
For centuries, devotees have honored Buddha Relics as symbols of enlightenment, purity, compassion, wisdom, and the living presence of the Buddha’s teachings. During this sacred occasion, devotees will have the rare opportunity to respectfully view and venerate these holy relics.
Buddhists do not worship relics as ordinary objects. Rather, relics serve as sacred inspirations that remind us of the Buddha’s qualities and encourage us to cultivate mindfulness, loving-kindness, wisdom, and inner peace in our own lives.
🌻What Are Arahanta Relics?
Arahanta Relics are sacred relics of enlightened disciples of the Buddha — noble monks and practitioners who completely purified their minds and attained liberation through practicing the Noble Eightfold Path.
An Arahant is one who has overcome greed, hatred, and delusion and attained complete freedom from suffering. Their relics are deeply respected because they represent the fruits of sincere spiritual practice and the possibility of awakening available to all beings.
🌻Why Do Buddhists Respect Relics?
In Buddhism, paying respect to relics is a traditional practice that helps cultivate faith (Saddhā), gratitude, humility, mindfulness, and wholesome qualities of the heart.
By honoring relics, practitioners reflect upon:
🪷the wisdom of the Buddha,
🪷the purity of enlightened beings,
🪷the impermanence of life,
🪷and the path toward peace and liberation.
Relics also serve as powerful symbols of spiritual continuity and devotion passed down through generations.
During this sacred Vesak celebration, devotees may respectfully offer flowers, candles, incense, and prayers while reflecting upon the qualities of the Buddha, Dhamma, and Noble Sangha.
We kindly request all visitors to approach this sacred occasion with mindfulness, peaceful conduct, and respect.
May this rare and precious opportunity bring blessings, wisdom, healing, harmony, and inner peace to all who attend.
May all beings be well, peaceful, and happy. 🪷
