Holy Angels: Traditional Catholic Worship for ALL God’s People - Come and see!
More and more people are realizing that leaving the Roman structure is not leaving Catholicism. Although we are independent of Rome and part of the Ecumenical Catholic Communion (ECC), our authentic Catholic identity is rooted deep within us. In fact, as we embrace our Catholicism in our worship, thoughts and actions, we find ourselves returning again and again in reflection on its profound mysteries. The sacraments color all parts of our lives, it is seen in our behavior, and experienced in our ordinary religious life.
When you visit Holy Angels in Orange County, you will see that our faith rests firmly on Scripture and we affirm the Nicene Creed, we trace our origins to the Apostles of Jesus Christ, we celebrate all the seven sacraments, we venerate and have devotions to the saints, the Blessed Virgin Mary and, of course, we believe that we receive the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist. We celebrate traditional Catholic funerals, confirmations, marriages, quinceañeras, memorials, rosaries, novenas, etc.
Our Bishop of the ECC Diocese of California was ordained in apostolic succession and so were our priests and deacons. In other words, we are Catholic, even if we are independent of the Vatican! We stand united in faith with our Roman Catholic brothers and sisters, but with the distinction that we are self-governing: our people have a voice in the Church by electing their bishops and participating in decisions for the mission, vision and direction of our Church. Our policies reflect a conversation between the Church and the community in which we live, and the teachings of Jesus Christ and his message of salvation.
You will notice other distinctives like the welcoming ALL, regardless of denomination, marital status, race, sexual identity or gender status—the same goes for our priests and other clergy. You will also meet former Protestants seeking a deeper sacramental life through our Catholic traditions and worship, and ALL baptized people are welcome to Holy Communion.
