Cornerstone Bible Church consists of Sanford families, some of which are members of Redeemer Community Church in Fuquay-Varina (www.redeemernc.org). These families would like to join the effort of making disciples for Jesus Christ in Sanford by establishing a church in the vicinity. To accomplish this, CBC began a public Bible study (summer '16). The plan is for Sunday services to begin in the nea
r future (fall '17). Why disciples for Jesus? Becoming a disciple of Jesus means the good news of Jesus has been heard and accepted. But what is the connection between Jesus and good news? To answer that question, one must first understand the bad news. You see, the Bible teaches that everyone has sinned against God. We have broken His law (lying, for example), offended God and deserve punishment. But the good news is that God provided a way to save us from punishment. He chose to punish His Son, Jesus, intstead of us. Jesus' death on the cross and His resurrection effectively removes our punishment. Think of it like this; punishment was headed our way when Jesus stepped in and took our punishment upon Himself. But as good as that sounds, it's not the whole story. The good news of Jesus does not apply to you unless you believe in Jesus and repent (turn from) your sins. Such a decision results in a person who loves God, submits to His ways and experiences real, lasting joy. CBC news of Jesus and by leading them into a vibrant relationship with Jesus and His church. What does CBC believe? CBC is not bringing new doctrines to Sanford. In fact, CBC wants to promote the biblical teachings that have been developed by the church since it began. While a complete list of our beliefs is available, CBC offers the following statements:
~The Bible is God's Word and consists of 66 books. The Bible is without error, complete, sufficient, and final.
~God exists eternally in three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
~All mankind is born sinful and in rebellion against God. As a result, all are in need of salvation.
~Salvation comes by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone.
~The church consists of followers of Jesus Christ who consistently gather together for worship, fellowship, discipleship, evangelism and missions.
