Not sure how this happened but the last week of summer camp is in the books. It flew by faster than a kid running to the ice cream truck. We had a visit with Kelly Woods at the Duke Energy Education Center on Monday afternoon. On Tuesday we traveled to Chapel Hill to visit the Morehead Planetarium & Science Center. We had a blast. Wednesday we had a regular mid-week movie. Thursday we traveled to Broadway to visit the Broadway Zoological Park. We had an absolutely amazing time. If you have not been - go. We finished the week with swimming and bowled a game at Sandhills Bowling Center, Inc. It was a wonderful way to finish out summer camp 2025. Part One

Okay, so we're a week behind, but who's counting? We had an absolute blast at week #4 of summer camp. Painting with Lisa Orlando was a real masterpiece. Then on Tuesday, Jennie Hunter from Hunter Farms showed us how to put stained glass together - I mean, who knew it was so hard? The Art museum was a surprise bonus - the kids loved the tour and all the cool stuff we saw. And on Friday, we had a day packed with arts and crafts - let's just say it was a hot mess, but the kids loved it. So much fun at camp.

Week #3 was water and nature week and boy did we make a splash. We had an absolute blast. Things we did were swimming at the Sanford Moose Lodge pool, taking a tour of the Hydro Electric Dam, swimming at buffalo lake (thanks a million Michael and Mary Tatum), watching a really cool movie, taking a nature hike in Siler City followed by a swim in the Siler City Pool. We had a tour cancel on us so we filled in with a quick game of Bowling because who doesn't love bowling. It was a week of camp that was totally awesome.

Summer Camp 2025 has started. We are all thoroughly excited. On Monday, we spent the morning swimming. In the afternoon, we collaborated with GiGi’s Creations, and Angie Mundy assisted us in preparing dishes to serve to the church staff on Tuesday morning. On Tuesday, we completed cooking breakfast, set the tables, and served our guests. We then joined them at their tables to practice our conversation skills. We proceeded to San Lee Park for a picnic lunch and spent the afternoon playing on the new San Lee play equipment. On Wednesday, we took a tour of C.V. Pilson Farm. Cliff provided us with an exceptional tour of how his farm operates to supply food to his store and multiple grocery stores. For lunch, we visited Valente's pizza in Vass and created our own pizza masterpieces. On Thursday, we went to Spring Lane Movie Theatre to watch the Flintstones. Due to impending bad weather, we returned to the church and spent the afternoon engaging in Lego building, Star Wars Monopoly, and other games. On Friday, we went swimming again and then headed to Catherine Ann's Grill - Cookie House - Homemade Ice Cream, where we concluded the week with karaoke and decorating our own cookies. That was a full week. We are now moving on to week #2.

Our last week of camp for 2024 was filled with bunches of fun. We had a tours of the Sanford Police Department and Lee Brick Plant. We saw a movie on Wednesday but it was to hot to do the park so we returned to the church for a church wide scavenger hunt. Thursday we took a visit to Watson’s nursery and then drove to Siler city to do their splash pad/swimming pool. We finished out summer camp for 2024 with a trip to Buffalo lake. Thank you everybody for everything you did to make our camps so special. Summer camp could not have been a success without the staff, Betty Cameron, Brookie Brewington, Ashley, Melpolder, and Jonathan Lett. They are the glue to this program. Can’t wait for summer 2025.

Week 4 was packed with exciting activities, including a visit to Mertek Solutions on Monday afternoon, where Mr. Pedley provided a thorough tour of the robotics production process, which was well-received by the children. Our Tuesday trip to the Nature Museum in Raleigh was a hit with our students, and we spent Wednesday exploring a new park after a movie. Thursday was dedicated to swimming and bowling, and on Friday, we rode the new Hill Railroad and ended the day at a park on Jordan Lake.

Week 3 was dedicated to nature exploration. We began with a fun-filled afternoon at San Lee Park on Monday and continued with a guided nature hike at Weymouth Woods nature preserve the following day. The highlight of the week was the animal touch and feel experience. We also discovered a beautiful park in Pittsboro, Rock Ridge Park, and treated ourselves to an unplanned ice cream run. To conclude the week, we enjoyed a refreshing swim at the Moose Pool and some bowling at Sandhills Bowling Alley.

Week 2 was themed around sports. Monday we enjoyed pool time and group games in the gym. On Tuesday, we toured with the Fayetteville Woodpeckers followed by a fantastic park picnic. Putt-Putt was scheduled for Thursday and, of course, bowling was a hit on Friday. Everyone had a great time.
