Donald Keith Bridges
January 3,1944-May 28,2026
Donald Keith Bridges was born on January 3, 1944, in Savannah, Georgia, the middle of three sons of Bruce and Pearl Bridges, both of whom are deceased. Donald is survived by his wife, Wanda; brothers Gary (Debbie) and Bruce (Gwen); and brother-in-law, Jimmy Jones.
He graduated from Jenkins High School and earned an associate degree from Brewton-Parker Junior College. He later attended the University of Georgia, where he studied art.
Donald married Wanda Jones on November 27, 1968, and they made their home in Sanford. They were blessed with two sons: Donald Keith Bridges Jr. (deceased) and Brian Burton Bridges.
A gifted artist, Donald, found both work and joy in his creative endeavors. Unlike many, he built a livelihood from his talents through his business, Bridges Signs. His “enjoyment of art” produced many landscape paintings that fill the walls of his home, adding a personal touch to every room.
Donald was also a devoted gardener, blending artistic vision with practical horticultural skills. His plants will continue to brighten summer days for those who loved him.
Known for his gregarious spirit and contagious laugh, Donald brought good cheer wherever he went. He loved singing along to the “oldies but goodies” from the ’50s and ’60s—and knew most of the words.
Donald is loved. He will surely be missed but never forgotten. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Hunt Springs Baptist Church on June 2, 2026. Visitation begins at 1 p.m., and the service will begin at 2 p.m.
Memorial contributions can be made to Tramway Baptist Church, 2401 Jefferson Davis Hwy, Sanford, NC 27332, and to Hunt Springs Baptist Church, 1557 St Andrews Church Rd, Sanford, NC 27332.
