Rosh HaShanah is almost here, and I’m looking forward to welcoming you—our Or Hadash community and our guests—for the High Holidays. 🍎🍯

Whether you’ve been celebrating with us for years or you’re joining us for the first time, I’ve put together a few tips, answers to frequently asked questions, and “know before you go” information to help you feel comfortable and at home.

One important update: We’re currently at capacity for Rosh HaShanah Day One, Kol Nidre, and Yom Kippur morning. But there are still several opportunities to join us:
🍎 Erev Rosh HaShanah — Friday, September 11
📯 Rosh HaShanah Day Two + Shofar Service — Sunday, September 13
👨‍👩‍👧 Kol Nidre Family Service — Sunday, September 20 at 4:45 pm
✨ Yom Kippur Afternoon — Monday, September 21 at 6:00 pm

Gather your littles!

Join us for Tot Shabbat, in partnership with PJ Library, for a joyful morning of music, stories, movement, and connection.

This special Shabbat experience is designed for children ages 0–6 and their siblings. We’ll sing, move, celebrate, and create meaningful Jewish moments together. After Tot Shabbat, stay for Kiddush lunch and enjoy time connecting with other families in our community.

Whether you’re part of the Or Hadash family or looking for a welcoming place to celebrate Shabbat, we’d love to see you. Bring your friends and join us for a Shabbat morning filled with smiles, songs, and community.

Join us for a special Family Kol Nidre Service on Sunday, September 20.

Bringing the beauty and spirituality of the traditional Kol Nidre service, this abbreviated experience is designed especially for families with earlier bedtimes—or anyone who prefers a shorter service.

Whether you've been celebrating for years or this is your first time, here are five Hebrew words you'll hear throughout Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur:

🍎 Shana Tova — "A good year." The traditional greeting for the Jewish New Year.

📯 Shofar — A ram's horn whose powerful blasts call us to reflect, awaken, and begin again.

💙 Teshuvah — Often translated as repentance, but more accurately means return—to ourselves, our values, and one another.

📖 Machzor — The special prayer book used during the High Holidays.

✨ Tikkun — a Hebrew word usually translated as “repair.”

Whether you're joining us for the first time or the fiftieth, we hope these words help you feel even more at home.
