This past Shabbat morning we were honored to celebrate a beautiful baby naming ceremony led by Rabbi Lauren.

In Jewish tradition, baby boys are welcomed into the covenant through brit milah. Baby girls are often welcomed through a simchat bat—a naming ceremony at home or in the synagogue that celebrates a sacred moment of blessing, identity, and belonging.

Rabbi Lauren has been intentional about shaping a baby mitzvah that gives girls a similarly meaningful and memorable welcome into the covenant—one that is deeply rooted in Jewish tradition while embracing the warmth of our community.

This Shabbat, during the Torah service, Gaby Sena-Berne and Josh Berne were honored with the seventh aliyah to welcome and bless their baby daughter and share her Hebrew name with the congregation. In a particularly moving moment, Rabbi Lauren wrapped the baby in her parents' tallit and gently placed her on the open Torah scroll—a powerful symbol of the covenant, our tradition, and the community that will help nurture her throughout her life. The congregation joined together in joyful song, singing "Mazel Tov!"

These are the moments that define a congregation: welcoming new life, embracing the next generation, and celebrating the enduring promise of our Jewish future.

We're thrilled to welcome back beloved Rabbis Analia and Mario for a special holiday weekend filled with community, music, learning, and celebration.
