“My times are in thy hand.”
Psalm 31:15
A new year often arrives with mixed emotions—hope, excitement, uncertainty, and even fear. We wonder what the months ahead will bring: new opportunities, unexpected challenges, unanswered prayers, or quiet victories. Into all those questions, Scripture speaks with calm assurance: “My times are in thy hand.”
David did not write these words from a place of comfort. He wrote them while surrounded by trouble, opposition, and uncertainty. Yet he chose to trust not in his understanding of time, but in God’s control over it. By saying “my times,” David surrendered every season of life—past regrets, present struggles, and future unknowns—into God’s care.
As we step into a new year, this verse reminds us that time itself belongs to God. Every day, every delay, every breakthrough, and every waiting season is held securely by Him. Nothing arrives too early or too late when God is in control. What feels like uncertainty to us is already known and ordered by Him.
This truth frees us from anxiety. We do not have to fear what we cannot see, because the One who holds tomorrow also holds us. Our responsibility is not to control the year ahead, but to trust the God who controls time.
Let this be your declaration for the new year:
When plans succeed — my times are in Thy hand.
When plans fail — my times are in Thy hand.
When answers are delayed — my times are in Thy hand.
The safest place for the year ahead is not in careful planning alone, but in complete surrender to God’s hands.
