Why the Palm Branches?

With Palm Sunday coming up this weekend, it is such a blessing to a deep dive on the meaning behind the use of palm branches by the people of Jerusalem. There is so much context going on in the secular culture, as well as history, and even the festivals that the Jews had observed for hundreds of years.

I hope this this simple infographic is helpful in understanding the context of the Triumphal Entry by Jesus into Jerusalem. Please let me know if you have any questions or have any commentary to add.

Tomorrow, January 18th, 2026...
Sanilac will unfortunately be closed as the flu is plaguing the Pastors house.

Our doors will also be closed January 25th, as the Pastor and family will be out of town.

Please continue to pray for some of our members:
We have a dear sister in the ICU,
another sister taking care of her husband after he had shoulder surgery, the pastors family while they fight this bug, and one of our lovely couples as they will be traveling home soon.

We love you all and apologize for the inconvenience. We pray you all have a blessed few weeks and look forward to coming back together February 1st. Take care and God Bless!

January 2026, Hymn of the Month.
" Thou Hast Been Our Guide"

Alterer: Roy A. Cheville
Author: Unknown
Arranger: Benjamin Carr

"1) Thou hast been our Guide each year
When our ears were turned to hear;
Thou hast been our Sun and Shield
When our hearts in faith would yield.
For the gift of strength and health,
And for friendship's boundless wealth,
For the pow'r Thy ways to see,
Lord, we offer thanks to Thee.
2) By the light of these good days
Would we seek our future ways,
From this altar we would go
With a heart flame all aglow.
Let the signet of Thy pow'r
Seal the pledges of this hour,
Then when far from this loved shrine
We shall join with Thee and Thine.
Amen."

SECTION 95:1 - Doctrine and Covenants
"Verily, I say unto you, my friends, Fear not; let your hearts be comforted; yea, rejoice evermore; and in everything give thanks, waiting patiently on the Lord; for your prayers have entered into the ears of the Lord of Sabaoth and are recorded with this seal and testament: The Lord hath sworn and decreed that they shall be granted; therefore, he giveth this promise unto you, with an immutable covenant, that they shall be fulfilled; and all things wherewith you have been afflicted shall work together for your good and to my name's glory, saith the Lord."

"Be an Encourager"

Burnout is a real thing, especially in ministry. This image was inspired by a woman who reached out to me and said her spouse was feeling the effects of burnout. I completely understand that and I go through that often in ministry as well.

My encouragement for you in 2026 is to be an encourager. Sometimes all we need is a little flame and we can find ourselves refreshed and ready for the next season. Let your light shine among others, and I promise you it will be a huge blessing to them.

And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near. (Hebrews 10:24-25)

“My times are in thy hand.”
Psalm 31:15

A new year often arrives with mixed emotions—hope, excitement, uncertainty, and even fear. We wonder what the months ahead will bring: new opportunities, unexpected challenges, unanswered prayers, or quiet victories. Into all those questions, Scripture speaks with calm assurance: “My times are in thy hand.”

David did not write these words from a place of comfort. He wrote them while surrounded by trouble, opposition, and uncertainty. Yet he chose to trust not in his understanding of time, but in God’s control over it. By saying “my times,” David surrendered every season of life—past regrets, present struggles, and future unknowns—into God’s care.

As we step into a new year, this verse reminds us that time itself belongs to God. Every day, every delay, every breakthrough, and every waiting season is held securely by Him. Nothing arrives too early or too late when God is in control. What feels like uncertainty to us is already known and ordered by Him.

This truth frees us from anxiety. We do not have to fear what we cannot see, because the One who holds tomorrow also holds us. Our responsibility is not to control the year ahead, but to trust the God who controls time.

Let this be your declaration for the new year:
When plans succeed — my times are in Thy hand.
When plans fail — my times are in Thy hand.
When answers are delayed — my times are in Thy hand.

The safest place for the year ahead is not in careful planning alone, but in complete surrender to God’s hands.
