The Osage Forest of Peace is an interspiritual contemplative education and training retreat center. PLEASE NOTE FOREST POLICIES: No children under the age of 18. No alcohol, tobacco, or recreational drugs. No weapons of any kind. No open fires. No pets (service animals are OK). The High Holy Days begin this week within the Jewish tradition. Primarily, this refers to Rosh Hashanah (new year) and Yom Kippur (day of atonement). During this time of year, Jewish people gather for reflection, introspection, and seeking a new start in the new year. May all who participate in these sacred festivals and rites be blessed!

We are looking for generous folks who would like to make the experience of guests at the Forest just a bit more lovely! Why these items? Because they are things we've either noticed would be helpful, or they have been suggested by guests in the past:
1. Marshmallow sticks--for when a group wants to sit around a campfire, swap stories, and make s'mores together.
2. Large capacity water kettle--so there is always hot water for the many cups of tea that are shared at the Forest.
3. Commercial Ice maker--If you've ever been at the Forest during June, July, or August, you'll understand! Ice is in high demand when it gets hot, and our current ice maker can't keep up.

There are many other items on the Forest of Peace wishlist on Amazon. Check them out today and see if there's something that you might be able to provide. (Hint--if you can get the item somewhere else cheaper, or if you don't want to shop on Amazon, there are many items on the list that can be purchased at your local stores!)

Long before the Osage Forest of Peace became an interspiritual retreat center, it was a Benedictine monastery.

The sisters who lived here shaped this place through prayer, work, hospitality, silence, and community.

Although the Forest has grown and changed, those roots remain part of who we are.

This January, we're going back to those roots—not to recreate the past, but to ask what Benedictine wisdom might have to say to us today.
