Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah! He is Risen! He is Risen! He is Risen!

This Easter, we celebrate the victory of life over death, hope over despair, and love over fear. The empty tomb reminds us that no darkness can overcome the light of Christ.

May your heart be filled with the joy of His resurrection, and may His peace guide your steps today and always.

Join us this Sunday as we rejoice together in the promise of new life. AMEN

“Carrying His own cross, He went out to the place of the Skull (which in Aramaic is called Golgotha)." John 19:17 NIV

This verse describes the moment when Jesus carries His cross to His crucifixion site, Golgotha. In this verse the emphasis of Jesus carrying the cross Himself, highlights His willingness to endure suffering and fulfill His earthly mission. This act of carrying the cross illustrates not only the physical journey to crucifixion but also the spiritual weight of people’s sins and significance of Jesus’ sacrifice for the salvation of mankind.

Today is Maundy Thursday, which is an alternate name for Holy Thursday, the first of the three days of solemn remembrance of the events leading up to and immediately following the crucifixion of Jesus. As recorded in John's gospel, on his last night before his betrayal and arrest, Jesus washed the feet of his disciples and then gave them a new commandment to love one another as he had loved them (John 13:34). We may linger at the table for a few moments this evening. But we gather, already prepared to eat and run because the world needs us to be at work for the kingdom. “I hate to eat and run, but…” It’s something we say or imagine saying. But it’s not usually how we talk about worship. In fact, worship is for lingering, for gathering and reflecting. But there is something different about Maundy Thursday. We often focus on the meal Jesus shares with his disciples, but the “mandate” of Maundy Thursday is linked to washing feet, because Jesus calls us to love one another in the way Jesus does when he washes the disciples’ feet— to love one another like servants rather than masters.

Suggested reading for this day is John 13:1-17, 31b-35.

As we begin our walk with Jesus during this holy week don't lose sight of why he began this walk in the first place. He was walking toward his death to pay the price for our sins. Remember to ask God for forgiveness and to thank Jesus for this courageous act in which he paid our debt and cleared a path for us to go to heaven. As it says in John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that who so ever believes in him may not die but have eternal life"

All are welcome to join us in celebration of the resurrection of Christ this Sunday ,4/5, at 9am

This coming Sunday, 22 February, is the first Sunday in Lent and we will be continuing is our Worship Series Renewed in Mercy with our bible lesson Mercy on the Wilderness Road. Where is mercy in the wilderness? This is a driving question behind the first Sunday in Lent. Every year, we begin Lent by joining Jesus in the wilderness, witnessing the temptation, and examining what Jesus’ temptation means for us. This year, we come to the wilderness once again, ready to pay attention and encounter mercy at work in the midst of temptation, distress, and the help that comes along the way.

Suggested readings for this coming Sunday are:
Genesis 2:15-17; 3:1-7 Psalm 32
Romans 5:12-19 Matthew 4:1-11

We will be holding services at 9ish. See you then.

This Wednesday is Ash Wednesday and this marks the beginning of our Lenten journey. We must remember that all long journeys begin not with the first step or rolling down the road, but with preparation. Even though we go on this journey year after year, grace persistently invites us to experience it anew, to learn new things about how we prepare and begin Lent. Our series for Lent this year is titled “Renewed in Mercy” and throughout the series we will be focusing on the concept of “re-new,” of making new again. We must practice a beginner’s mind, the practice of releasing expectations or preconceived notions and approaching both new and familiar people, events, and ideas with a fresh perspective. How might you instill worship this Lenten season with a sense of a new encounter with God’s mercy?

Remember, Ash Wednesday worship service is just the beginning our Lenten journey. Let us use this service as a launching point as we prepare and set the stage for a season of repentance that is not just turning away from sin but turning toward God’s renewing works in the world.

Suggested readings for this Ash Wednesday are:
Joel 2:1-2, 12-17 Psalm 51:17
2 Corinthians 5:20b-6:10 Matthew 6:1-6, 16-21

We will NOT be holding service on this day but will have service on 22 February. See you then.
