Join us next week to hear a special guest teacher!

Everyone has the capacity to feel a deep connection, empathy, and love for others, which produces tremendous inspiration and happiness. Unfortunately, we have long-standing bad habits of thinking that result in feeling disconnected, critical, and unhappy with others.

During this event, Gen Demo will explain and guide meditations to free ourselves from these negative habits and feelings and tap into our natural capacity for love and joy.

No previous experience is necessary and absolutely everyone is welcome. The retreat sessions will include practical instruction, guided meditations, and time for questions; and we invite you to stay afterwards to enjoy light refreshments and meet Gen Demo.

Mahakaruna reopens this week after the summer break! We hope you can join us for a class in our new Monday night series.

Modern Buddhism is a presentation of all of Buddha’s teachings that is suitable for modern, busy people who have jobs, families, and modern obligations. In the book, “Modern Buddhism” by Ven. Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche, we are given practical instructions that take into account the modern changes in our lives. There are instructions in the book for extensive formal meditation practice, but there are also instructions for how to merge Buddha’s teachings with our daily, busy lives so that we make spiritual progress consistently over the years.

With Modern Buddhism, we can learn:

How to practice love and wisdom with our family

How to practice patience and kindness at work

How to drive and commute in a meaningful way

How to remember our meditations when we work out

And … how to really relax and catch our breath!

Please visit our website for more details about this series and the various drop-in classes we offer throughout the week: meditateincal.org/
