WHAT IS THE DIVINE MERCY NOVENA (source: divinemercy.org)
The Divine Mercy Novena is a devotional practice in the Catholic Church that lasts nine days, traditionally beginning on Good Friday and ending on the Saturday before Divine Mercy Sunday (the Sunday after Easter) but can be prayed at any time of the year. Jesus revealed this novena to St. Faustina Kowalska in 1934, instructing her to pray for different groups of souls each day, promising that "by this Novena, I will grant every possible grace to souls".

REASONS TO PRAY THE DIVINE MERCY
1. Trust in God's Mercy: The novena encourages believers to develop a deep trust in God's infinite mercy. By praying, individuals acknowledge their dependence on God's love and seek His forgiveness and intercession for themselves and others.

2. Intercession for Others: Each day of the novena is dedicated to praying for different groups of souls, including sinners, priests, and those in purgatory. This intercessory aspect allows participants to bring the needs of others before God, fostering a spirit of compassion and community.

3. Spiritual Growth and Renewal: The novena provides a structured time for reflection, repentance, and spiritual renewal. It encourages participants to examine their consciences and turn towards a path of conversion, enhancing their relationship with God.

4. Promises of Grace: Jesus promised St. Faustina that those who pray the novena with sincerity and trust would receive unimaginable graces, especially during difficult times. This includes the promise of complete forgiveness of sins for those who go to confession and receive Holy Communion on Divine Mercy Sunday.

5. Preparation for Divine Mercy Sunday: The novena serves as a preparation for the Feast of Divine Mercy, emphasizing the importance of God's merciful love and the graces available through it. It is a time to reflect on the significance of mercy in one's life and the lives of others.
The Divine Mercy Novena is a profound way to experience God's mercy, intercede for others, and grow spiritually. It invites believers to trust in God's love and to share that mercy with the world.

Today, as we begin the Sacred Triduum, join us tonight at 7 pm for the Mass of the Lord's Supper with the Washing of the Feet. It will be followed by a procession to the Altar of Repose at the gym. Adoration and prayers for the Blessed Sacrament will be available until 11 pm.

On Holy Thursday, we remember the night Jesus knelt to wash feet, broke bread with His friends, and gave us the great commandment to love as He loves. As we gather for the Mass of the Lord’s Supper, may we draw near to Christ who chooses humility, service, and self‑giving love.

Stay with Him. Pray with Him. Walk with Him. The journey to Easter begins here.
