Sometimes what the Lord calls us to do is to rest, even when we feel like all we have to do is work. As Pastor Darren Phelps reminds us, our bodies keep score, and at times we are called to take care of them, following in the footsteps of Jesus and engaging in moments of rest and solitude.

Burned out? So was Elijah one chapter after his biggest victory. And God's first response wasn't a rebuke or a sermon. Instead, God encouraged him to rest. No matter how crazy life gets God meets us in our exhaustion first.

This week we continue our series, "This Is My Story," by hearing from one of our church's strongest supporters, Pastor Darren Phelps. He currently serves as the Community Regional Minister for Church Renewal in the Southwest Region of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), but he will leave that position in October to serve as the Senior Pastor of First Christian Church of Conroe. He has been instrumental in the Disciples' ongoing support of our fledgling congregation and even preached last year at Pastor Larry's Installation Service. We hope to see you there!
