Choir is back in action! 🎶

After summer break, our choir is getting ready to make music together once again! We’re so excited to welcome back our returning members and invite new voices to join us, too.

No prior choir experience is required–we welcome all who wish to share their musical gifts in this meaningful ministry!

Rehearsals are held every Thursday evening at 7:00 PM in the sanctuary, beginning this Thursday, September 10th.

Our choir is led by Choir Director Max Chodos and Musician Justin Hershey, and together they help make music a significant part of worship here at SMLC!

Join us for God’s Work, Our Hands! Sunday, September 13th

After a short church service and a blessing, we are offering a variety of projects. There is something for everyone to be involved!

Projects Include: sewing eyeglass cases & collecting used eyeglasses, assembling sack lunches, yard work for the preschool, collecting used towels & bagging dry food for the Rancho Coastal Humane Society, sorting clothing for distribution to disabled athletes, and bagging rice and beans for distribution to immigrants.

Afterwards stay and enjoy great fellowship and a Potluck lunch organized by Donna Huber and Jan Parthemer.

That’s a wrap on our Blessing of the Backpacks!

Thank you to everyone who joined us this past Sunday as we prayed for our students, teachers, school staff, and families as they begin a new school year.

We’re grateful to everyone who helped make the morning special, from our SMLC Children's Center teachers to Amazing Mini Miracles and their wonderful mini horses, and everyone who helped with our Preschool fundraiser and enjoyed some shaved ice together!

We were so excited to come across this reflection from the Pacifica Synod’s Border Church gathering in Tijuana—and even more excited to see the name of our own Anne Voth!

We’re excited to introduce a new small group ministry beginning this October!

This new ministry will offer an opportunity to gather in a welcoming, home-based setting to study God’s Word, ask questions, share insights, and grow together in faith.

Whether you’re new to Bible study or have been studying Scripture for years, we encourage you to join us! Members, visitors, family, and friends are all welcome.

As the new school year begins, we invite our SMLC community to join us for a special Blessing of the Backpacks on Sunday, August 30! 🎒

During the beginning of worship, we’ll take time to bless the backpacks, school bags, and brief cases of students, teachers, and school staff, and pray for a joyful and peaceful year ahead.

Parents are invited to remain in worship while children enjoy Sunday School outside at the Preschool.

We’ll also have a special visit from Amazing Mini Miracles and their mini horses!

Reminder, this Sunday, August 23, the congregation will meet briefly after worship to vote on the motion submitted by the Endowment Committee and endorsed by the Congregation Council.

Please keep in mind that Sunday’s discussion will be limited to the motion itself, rather than the congregation’s broader financial picture or long-term plans.

The start of a fun-filled school year is just around the corner! ✏️

As the new school year begins, we'd love to remind our SMLC community that San Marcos Lutheran Children's Center is still enrolling! We are currently looking to welcome more 3-year-olds to our Tuesday & Thursday class.
