Far from the village: what does the enemy tell us?

On Sunday we went over a few myths of disconnecting. On top of that, the Bible tells us in 1 Peter 5:8 that when we are isolated, we are vulnerable to attack.

Here’s a few lies the enemy tells us:
- Church is full of hypocrites
- Church people are judgmental
- They don’t care about me.
- I can worship on my own.

“Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.” Hebrews 10:24-25

Happy Monday Crossing Church! We were so excited for a rain free Sunday service! Yesterday Pastor Ryan continued our “far from” series. We learned about a few myths of disconnecting. What are the four myths?

I get to what I want the way I want
I protect myself from hurt
I work on what benefits me.
I am accountable to no one.

However, isolation leaves us vulnerable to attack.

“Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.” 1 Peter 5:8

As we partook in communion on Sunday, we remembered the sacrifice Jesus did for us. We want to remember the Lords sacrifice because it helps us become more devoted to the Savior. We are more willing to sacrifice ourselves for Him. Romans 12:1 says, “And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him.”

How do we prepare the soil for the seeds we plant in order to bear fruits?

There’s a parable in Mark that says this, “Listen! A farmer went out to plant some seed. As he scattered it across his field, some of the seed fell on a footpath, and the birds came and ate it. Other seed fell on a shallow soil with underlying rock. The seed spouted quickly because the soil was shallow. But the plant soon wilted under the hot sun, and since it didn’t have deep roots, it died. Other seeds fell among thorns that grew up and choked out the tender plants so they produced no grain. Still other seeds fell on fertile soil, and they produced a crop that was thirty, sixty, and even a hundred times as much as had been planted!” Then he said, “Anyone with ears to hear should listen and understand.” - Mark 4:3-9

Missing our space cadets more and more now that space camp vbs is over!

Our kids are loving our space camp mission so far! 🛸They’ve created star sun catchers on Mars ⭐️, attended mission debrief on Neptune 🚀, and successfully completed astronaut training on Earth!🌍

(A helpful reminder for parents: it’s neon day tomorrow!)

Day 1 of VBS was SO MUCH FUN! We played games, had an awesome craft station, and even had our “among us” friends join in on the fun! Can’t wait to see you tomorrow for day 2!
