Through Jesus we are boldly compassionate, celebrating life's adventure, being made new, and complete together. 2.42 Church exists to know Jesus and do his work together. We provide a community where people who have been failed by the religious community can feel at home. We give our neighbors at Texas State and in San Marcos a place to explore Christianity together, to receive spiritual mentoring
, and to walk together in becoming more like our King Jesus. We're figuring out life with each other, take responsibility when we screw up, and offer grace when others do too.

Joshua grew up in a family that loved Jesus deeply and they were really involved in their church but around the time Joshua was graduating from high school a lot of hurts from the church through the years had piled up and he decided he wouldn't be going to church anymore. He still loved Jesus because he had seen how powerfully Jesus had worked in his life and family but Joshua was pretty suspicious of most people who said they were Christians. Lisa had also grown up in a family that loved Jesus and attended church regularly. Her humility, loyalty, and devotion led her to become a model youth group kid who loved God deeply. However her view of following Jesus was more about people needing to follow the rules than it was about working with Jesus to bring life and goodness to people. This is where we were when our paths joined together. Joshua, convinced by Lisa to not give up on church altogether, ended up trying church again a couple years later. Lisa, encouraged by Joshua, began to see that following Jesus meant much more than simply following the rules. Along the way we have loved one another, challenged one another, and grown together as we continue to follow Jesus. We have also found and served alongside many others who share our love for Jesus, one another, and humanity. We married in 2005 and have the two best children around - Faith (9) and Justice (4).

When [Jesus] saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” Matthew 9:36-38
