The message of the cross has been preached since the beginning. From the Passover lamb to the hyssop branch dipped in blood, God was always pointing to Jesus—the ultimate sacrifice. He was "marred beyond recognition" (Isaiah 53), beaten and broken so we could be washed whiter than snow.
