THE CONNECTION BETWEEN CHRISTMAS AND GOD’S CHARACTER, AS SHOWN THROUGH GOD’S BIG STORY!

Have you ever stopped to listen to a group of carolers and then joined them to go spread some more Christmas cheer with others?

Music is such a big part of Christmas, but it’s not the main reason we celebrate. It’s easy to get distracted
with all the lights, presents, and traditions that sometimes we forget it’s not about the things we do, but Who we do it for and why we do it.

That’s why this December, we’re singing loudly as we jam out to our Christmas Playlist to celebrate Jesus, God’s greatest gift!

The best gift God ever gave was Jesus. Because of Jesus, it’s possible for us to have a relationship with God that will last forever.

As we get in the mix this Christmas season, let’s take time to remember the reason we celebrate in the first
place: Jesus, the greatest gift the world has ever known.

Show and Tell is always a favorite.

Children have so much fun looking for the most special thing they can find to show their friends, and what each child shares helps teachers and friends get to know them a little bit better by
seeing what is most valuable to them.

This month, we’re taking a look at the ultimate Show and Tell.

God showed the world how much He loves us by
giving us Jesus.

That is what we celebrate at Christmas, and that is what we will continue to show the world through our actions and tell with our words.

Hello Parents!

This month we are talking about how to shine God’s light.

**Junior**

In 1967, a new toy was introduced to the world, and on the box were these words:
Create Beautiful Pictures With . . . Light.

It was the LiteBrite®! The LiteBrite was an instant hit and has remained such a favorite for all these years that families are still having fun making pictures with light.

This month, we’re talking about a different kind of bright light. We’re talking about THE light that God sent into the world to shine bright for all the world to see. And THIS light has a name. His name is Jesus!

Each time we choose to love like Jesus, we become a bright light. Just like each LiteBrite peg lights up to make a picture, each and every act of love is a bright light that makes a beautiful picture for the world to see Jesus.

Think back to a time when someone made time for you. Maybe that looked like caring for you when you were sick, or teaching you how to tie your shoe, making food for you, or teaching you how to read or learn a new skill.

No matter what it is, when people make time for us, it can bring us joy. It’s like a light shining on a dark day. Caring for one another isn’t always the easy thing to do, but it certainly is what Jesus asks of us.

When Jesus gave the command in Matthew 5 to let our light shine, it wasn’t just to bring joy into each other’s lives, but also to bring glory to God. We are reflections of Who God is, and as we “Live Bright” this month, we’ll discover exactly how we can shine God’s light.

Sometimes it’s easy to know what the wise choice would be. Let’s say you’re choosing between having expired milk with your cereal or eating some fruit and a sandwich.

You probably aren’t reaching for the milk! What about choosing to stay up all night when you have a road trip the next day, or getting some sleep because you’re driving first?

Every decision you make starts out with a choice. As we “dive deep” into the Bible this month, we’ll discover that God is always there to help us make wise choices. God has given us people who can help us make those wise choices too.

Have you ever watched a cooking show where kids are doing the cooking?

They are SO creative!!!

A little of this and a little of that and voila! A culinary delight!

Now imagine God creating each and every person . . . Even more creative, right?
Two brown eyes, some curly black hair, and a splash of freckles.

Then, God adds a dash of compassion, a spoonful of kindness, a large cup of creativity . . . and voila!
