Tomorrow we will discuss and celebrate Beltane, when spring peaks and we officially enter the light half of the year!

Beltane was on May 1st, but we're happy to celebrate it now when we have the chance.

After β€œNo Kings,” several key primaries, and escalating ICE occupations, we are witnessing a renewed wave of organizing, mutual aid, and community defense.

We encourage you to join Unitarian Universalists for Social Justice on Tuesday, May 5 at 8pm ET as they host Rev. Liz Theoharis of the Kairos Center, renowned for her co-leadership of the Poor People's Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival, for a gathering to help us meet this moment with courage, solidarity, and strategic action.

Our second annual Earth Day celebration was a success despite a drizzly start this morning!

We painted pictures of the Earth, popped popcorn on a solar cooker, learned about the benefits of induction ovens and the issue of plastic pollution, studied fossils, potted seeds, gave away some plants, and ate lots of falafel. We also enjoyed both spoken word and musical performances by some wonderful local talent!

Thank you to everyone who attended, and a special thank you to all who helped put this thing together. We hope to do more and more community events in the future and we plan to make our Earth Day event even bigger next year! πŸ’šπŸŒŽπŸŒ²

Today, a few of our members took part in the Hemet Beautiful initiative, with our project specifically being pruning trees and cleaning up dead wood in Simpson Park. From there, we attended the Ramona Pageant and admired the beauty of our valley.

Earth Day/week/month may be coming to an end, but one of our values is to recognize the interdependent web of life. For us, part of that is taking care of our home, every day 🌎. Tomorrow is our Earth Day event at the UU Fellowship from 10-2. Hope to see you there!

We spent yesterday morning hard at work (or play?) painting signs for our upcoming Earth Day Event on April 26th, 10-2pm. We look forward to working with our local Green Coalition to promote a healthier planet and valley for all of us πŸ’šπŸŒ

For tomorrow's service we will explore the Irish holiday Imbolc, which represents the earliest signs of springs poking through the dark winter days. With this as an anchor point, I'd like to discuss how this mirrors our current shared circumstances and, further, how we can help our neighbors today and always.

Winter is not quite over. Spring is not quite here. But we are being warmed to action now.

All are welcome, as always! πŸ’šπŸ’šπŸ’š
