On Sunday, April 26, 2026, St. Peter’s Syriac Orthodox Church in San Dimas, California, celebrated Ceremonial Communion led by His Eminence Mor Clemis Eugene Kaplan and Very Rev. Fr. Joseph Kalo.

His Eminence spoke to the children about the sacred meaning of Holy Communion, reminding them that they are partaking in the true Body and Blood of Jesus Christ. The children each prepared a solo on what they felt was most special about receiving Holy Communion and recited it to the congregation. Topics included the importance of preparing spiritually for communion, the importance of attending Holy Liturgy every Sunday and the power of prayer 🙏🏻

His Eminence expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the students, their families, and St. Peter Sunday School for their dedication in preparing for this special ceremony. He also thanked the clergy, deacons, choir and congregation for fostering a community of traditions and faith for the future generations to come.

May God continue to guide and bless the children throughout their spiritual journey ✝️

A joyful evening of faith and fellowship brought together over 80 Junior Youth from St. Peter Syriac Church and St. John Coptic Church for a special Spiritual Night centered on unity and connection. Led by His Eminence Mor Clemis Eugene Kaplan, alongside Rev. Fr. Shenouda, Rev. Fr. Zmargdos, Rev. Fr. Joseph Gorgi, and devoted Junior Youth leaders, the night began with prayers chanted in both Syriac and English. Hearing the voices of the youth join together in different languages created a meaningful sense of shared tradition and belonging. Rev. Fr. Joseph Gorgi presented a Bible study that focused on the relationship between a cell phone and our spiritual lives - "Just like a cell phone is designed to stay connected, charged, protected, and updated, our lives are meant to stay connected to Jesus Christ. Without connection or power, a phone becomes useless—just as without a relationship with Christ, we become spiritually drained and disconnected. Staying close to Jesus keeps us strong, protected, and functioning as we were created to be."

Afterward, everyone gathered in the social hall to enjoy dinner, where everyone enjoyed time together.

The evening continued with a Bible study led by His Eminence, who spoke about Syriac and Coptic saints that truly connected with the youth and encouraged them in their faith.

As the night went on, the room filled with energy and excitement through various games and activities that brought everyone closer together. This was the second time Junior Youth from both churches have come together, and it was clear how much these gatherings mean to them. With new friendships formed and memories made, everyone left looking forward to the next Spiritual Night to reunite and continue building this special bond.

All attendees received a gift - Scripture tumbler cup, prayer card, pocket cross and scripture pen. All reminders that in all we do Our Lord Jesus Christ is with us 🙏🤍
