Maximum Award: $1,200 per Qualifying Household
Application Period: September 12, 2026 - October 30, 2026

Program Description
The Rancho Penasquitos Fire Safe Council Home Hardening and Zone Zero Compliance Incentive/Reimbursement Program is a community-based grant initiative designed to reduce the wildfire risk of residential properties located in high-hazard fire zones of Rancho Penasquitos (zip code 92129) located in the City of San Diego, California.
This program provides eligible homeowners with reimbursement grants of up to $1,200 for the purchase and installation of qualifying home hardening improvements and Zone Zero compliance measures. Zone Zero — the 0–5 foot non-combustible buffer immediately surrounding a home — is one of the most critical and cost-effective defensible space strategies a homeowner can implement.
Applicants must contribute a minimum of 20% of the total verified project cost. Maximum reimbursement is $1200.
Important: No reimbursement will be issued without complete documentation including receipts AND before/after photographs. Work completed prior to application submission is not eligible for reimbursement.
