How do you say goodbye to something that has been so much a part of you for so long?

Here is my attempt:

Well, friends. It’s about that time. Today is mine & Noah’s last official day on the staff at St. Thérèse of Carmel!

And it’s late at night (on Thursday) and I’m laying on the floor of the Youth Room thinking about all that we’ve done here. All that God has done here. The Community that was built here. And I was overwhelmed with dread and fear and sadness because I thought it was all over.

But, then I stopped sniffling. And I got excited, and exhaled, and was so full of hope. And I started to think about all you. All that you all will do here. All that God will do here. All the Community that will continue to grow here.

It has truly been such an honor and privilege to get to walk with and do life with so many of you over the past 7 years. To see and be a part of the incredible things that the Lord has done in our “small church by the freeway” in Carmel Valley has been some of the greatest joys of my life!

I cannot thank you enough for taking the time to give your time, talent, and treasure to our Parish community every single one of you, from the deepest part of my heart, for all of it. No amount of words could ever express my immense gratitude and love for this place, for you all, and all that makes it so wonderful. Most of all, I want to thank you all personally for always giving our ministries SO much love and mercy and grace and enthusiasm.

Always remember that God is SO good, and so are all of you! YOU are so incrediblely loved. YOU are what makes us so special and so US. YOU are what makes this community and world so wonderful, and there is so much more wonderful in store for all of you and STOCYM.

Although Noah and I won’t be here at the Parish every day, please know that we will always be here for you. Praying for you, rooting for you, and whatever else you may need.

Keep making things fun. Keep making as much noise as you can. Keep showing up.

Many more flowers to bloom.

And, as I told you every chance I could - I love you all. So much. Always.

Thanks so much to all of you for coming to hangout with us to finish off a most excellent Summer. Come hang at Bibles & Bagels tomorrow for our final FINAL thingy.

Transitions are tough, and the Summer will be missed, but we got so much good stuff coming up and can’t wait to hangout with y’all.

We are always here for you and want to walk with you wherever you go. God is so so so good and good things are coming for all of y’all, I can feel it.

I don’t know about y’all, but I’ve been having a WHIRLWIND of a time recently. I’m just pooped. I feel off. It’s weird. Anyone else?

I’m enjoying my time in Portugal right now, which means I get to enjoy some good rest and fun, but when I stop moving/change my routine, the world kinda feels like the picture above - out of focus, a little bit of fuzzy, out of whack. Like the whole world is spinning just a little too fast and, just like when you get off a ride at the fair, now I’m just dizzy. When I used to get really dizzy like this at amusement parks or just during my day-to-day small child antics, my mom, would always tell me to “look at the horizon.” To try to pick a fixed point to focus on to regain my balance.⠀

With just everything going on and the end of Summer approaching - the world will continue to spin faster and faster. We can get really dizzy and mixed up and confused if we’re not careful. The words that come to mind are from the Prophet, Isaiah - Chapter 26: 3 - “You keep him in perfect peace/whose mind is stayed on,/because he trusts in you.” That if we keep our mind focused on God, we will find peace, and not just a fleeting feeling, but a PERFECT peace that will help us stabilize and catch our balance. Isaiah goes on to write that the Lord is our rock, our fixed point that isn’t going to move or sway or give way. In a world that is constantly shifting and changing, HE is our fixed point that we can always depend on. Let the world come back into focus by focusing on God.

“LET GO, AND LET GOD!”

I think we’ve all heard this saying before at least once in our lives.

It’s really cool to say and is such a rad idea, but how often do we actually do so? How often do we take Saint Pope JPII’s words, “do not be afraid” seriously? How often do we truly let go of everything the world expects of us or the expectations we put on ourselves and our worldly desires to allow for God to come into our lives and TAKE us where we need to go - even if it is somewhere we didn’t expect (or even think we wanted to) go⠀

As we continue into this weekend and back half of the Summer, I pray that you consider what you can do in your life right now to let God move through and with you? What can you let go of? How can this help you in any upcoming stressful times?

Take some time to go to Mass this week, to pray, to go to Adoration, to just bask in the presence of God! Tune out all the distractions and try your best to ask God to “Lead you.”

It’s been so fun to hangout with our community this week at VBS. Our STOCYM fam is doing such a good job leading and helping out at our camp. Seriously, they are showing the love of God to everyone they interact with. We are called to serve and to love!!!!

Speaking of SERVING - you can come join the party with some ACTUAL 🚚 food trucks 🚚 rolling up to the Parish on Wednesday & Friday from 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM!

All are welcome (not just campers) - kids, siblings, pets, parents, neighbors, parishioners, strangers! Bring some cash/card, a chair, and come hangout with us!

Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Diocese of San Diego’s premiere 3 on 3 basketball tournament, 🏀 THE TRINITY CUP 🏀 is postponed!

It will make its triumphant return to the carpet courts of the Dempsey Social Center (Parish Hall) later this month!!! That’ll give you plenty of time to get your team together. More information to come!

In the meantime, join us this Monday for 🎮 OPEN GYM 🎮 where we will spend the evening in the Parish Hall, playing some video games and/or shooting some hoops/playing some sports & games and what not. It’s gonna be awesome!!! Link in bio 👀
