Last Sunday's sermon was about the Beatitudes - blessings which lead to flourishing in the life of a person who follows Jesus and his teachings. This flourishing is not about personal gain. It is about bringing hope to all people in all of God's Creation. Today's Scripture, Psalm 133, is a reminder that God intends for people to live in the unity (not uniformity!) that is found in Christ.

This Sunday, August 9, Mission Hills United Methodist Church will dedicate new signage appropriate to the historic, Spanish revival architecture. The custom-designed copper letters were created to reflect the building's design and its place as part of the Mission Hills neighborhood. Following worship at 10AM there will be a brief program at 11AM to dedicate the new sign. The community is invited to be part of this special day.

Today at our VBS Summer Camp, we delivered our food donations and toured the Good Shepherd Ministry Center to learn how they impact and help their neighborhood through their food pantry, clothing closet, hennery and food garden. Mid-Week Update: MHUMC has been extra B-U-S-Y over the last three days. Snowball Mountain Challenge included music, slime, crafts, games, and even a snow cloud! Senior Fellowship met for Rummikub and lunch. Dinner Church met for veggie burgers, baked beans, apple pie, (and more) and then a lively discussion on Philippians 4:1-13. (Phil. 4:13 is the theme verse for Summer Camp.) God's love is big enough to give everyone strength for anything!
