The slightly battered ship finally arrived at port, tattered but still intact as anxious patrons awaited our arrival on shore. Amazingly, Jesus was already there on the planks of the dock, leather-sandaled shoes at His feet as Peter and John also awaited our arrival. How could the Lord be at two places at one time, in the ship and also on shore, I asked myself?
Jesus once again knew my every thought and responded likewise in kind. "My precious son, don't even give it a second thought. I am with you wherever you may go. I am the Alpha and Omega, beginning and end; even both your shelter, sword and shield, all in one. By the way, son, the carriage cabin awaits you."
I walked the long planks of the wooden dock, crooked as it was, that led to shore. Finally stepping through the resin oak-and-cedar framed portal door of the carriage's cabin wall, I carried my Stetson hat in hand as I boarded amidst fringed lace and mahogany woodwork within that comforted me all the more.
How could all this possibly be? Peter and John lived with Jesus over 2,000 years ago, long before Stetson hats were even invented, and centuries before cowboys dusted prairie fields of the Old West? Yet, Jesus knew me even before the day I was born, God in a Man that He was, and knowing my deepest desires of the heart that even my own wife enlightened me of the same. Christ brought me to His feet, then, when wild coyotes emerged amidst bison and desert plateaus surrounded me with the purest of excitement to whet my whistle for more of the same when I simply followed Christ wherever destiny may have led me.
