We are a parish of the Diocese of Los Angeles and the West, which is a part of the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of North America. This is the largest archdiocese in the ancient Patriarchate of Antioch and all the East, originally established by Sts. Peter and Pa
ul, and where “the Disciples were first called Christians.”
St. Anthony’s is located in the San Diego area. Our community has grown from a handful of visionary and motivated families to a full-sized parish working towards the continuous glorification of God in all that we do. We strive to be of “one mind, and one accord,” caring for each other, and worshiping God in Trinity—Father, Son and Holy Spirit—in the English language. We abide by the 2000-year-old teachings and practices of our Lord Jesus Christ, as kept by His Holy Apostles, and given to and preserved faithfully in a continual and unbroken succession of Holy Bishops and Saints to this day. Anthony’s participate in all aspects of parish life. We abide by the teachings of the complete and unabridged Holy Scriptures, as understood by our Orthodox Christian Faith. We acknowledge the spiritual leadership and authority of our Antiochian Orthodox Patriarch, our Metropolitan Archbishop, our Diocesan Bishop and our parish Clergy. We regularly attend the Divine Services and participate in the full sacramental life of the church, especially regular Confession and frequent Holy Communion, with our brothers and sisters in Christ. We strive to grow personally in our prayer life and in the spirituality of our Orthodox Christian faith. We seek to grow and live in holiness, so as to manifest the Kingdom of God here on earth. We strive to mature in our stewardship and accountability to God, by giving generously, seeking to tithe back to God with our individual time, talents and financial resources, in thankfulness for all His blessings upon us. We welcome new members, helping each one to find a home within St. Anthony’s community family. We work actively in the Church and seek to participate on at least one of St. Anthony’s Ministry Teams or Parish Organizations. We participate in the Christian education opportunities and activities provided to educate our adults and youth about Holy Scripture, our faith, and the teachings of our Holy Fathers. We reach beyond our own parish by our evangelical witness to others about Christ and by assisting those in need with almsgiving and charitable outreach. We strive to nurture our children, young people, and one another by:
Endeavoring to make our homes “the little Church” through prayer, fasting, scripture reading and teaching the spirituality of the Orthodox Christian faith;
Involving them in our Orthodox Christian education activities. Participating regularly in Orthodox youth fellowship and outreach programs.
