Learn to sing, read music, perform in musicals, travel to festivals and competitions, and sing for outreach activities. Clairemont Lutheran Church offers 3 choirs for ages 3 through high school, plus a special needs choir. All choirs are FREE and open to anyone in the community. You need not attend the church to participate. The Cherub Choir (Ages 3-6) meets on Monday afternoons from 4:00-4:50pm.
Cherubs receive a strong foundation in musical skills through fun, active games and songs. They perform in the Christmas pageant and spring musical, and sing in church about one to two times during the semester. GLEE!(1st-5th grade) meets on Monday evenings from 5:00-6:00pm. Singers receive expert instruction in vocal technique, music theory, sight singing, and music history in an active and fun class. In addition to singing in church about twice a semester, the children perform in 3 fully staged and costumed musical per year, travel to festivals, and sing for outreach performances at retirement homes. The Esperanza Youth Choir (6th grade-high school) is an award-winning youth choir dedicated to outreach and community service. The choir meets on Monday evenings from 6:00-7:00pm. In addition to singing in church services about twice a semester, the youth choir performs in three staged, costumed musicals each year including a Christmas production, which they often take on the road to area retirement homes in December. The youth choir also sings in the annual Choristers Guild Choir Festival, and travels out of town to festivals and competitions. Rise & Shine (special needs teens and adults) meets on Sunday afternoons from 1:30-2:30pm. This unique group accepts all skill levels, and receive individually-tailored instruction in vocal and musical skills in a fun and supportive atmosphere. In addition to singing in church once or twice a semester, the choir performs in musicals and community outreach programs.
