Friends! Brown chapel has been sitting in silence on Thursday nights since Spring semester wrapped. But...TONIGHT @ 7PM, PLNU is firing it back up again for a time of worship, getting to connect with God and with one another!

We'll have some coffee and snacks for any takers, and feel free to invite any local PLNU peeps.

Every summer, PLNU sends out several worship teams to serve in ministry at summer youth camps and churches. We'll have this awesome group of PLNU students leading us tonight before they hit the road this Friday for 6 weeks.

See ya tonight!!

Hey all you people! TODAY at 9:45am in the Greek, we have the privilege of having Sophia Starner be one of our interns (along with ) to lead us in worship. Let’s get to know her some more...

Q1: Tell us a little about yourself!! Name, grade, major(s)/minor(s). 3 words to describe yourself
SS: hello! my name is sophia starner and i’m a senior double major in philosophy and christian studies. three words i would use to describe myself are mini pizza bagels.

Q2: How long have you been singing and/or leading worship?
SS: i have been leading worship since 8th grade though the quality of it then was questionable. i grew up as a worship pastor’s kid and in a whole family of musicians so it’s no surprise that this is where i am today.

Q3: What are some things you’re doing to enjoy a safe winter break?
SS: honestly my winter break has been a glimpse into my future as an old woman. i have read almost 16 books in the span of 4 weeks, played lots of card games with family, watched wheel of fortune and jeopardy every week night from 7-8pm, and settled into bed around 9pm. now that’s a good winter break if you ask me.

Q4: What’s one activity you could do everyday and never get bored of?
SS: i could eat butternut squash ravioli every single day, and never get bored. never.

Q5: Other than worship through music, what other forms of worship makes you feel most connected to God?
SS: i feel most connected to God through interacting with people and participating in the world. being connected is such an intimate gift and to be able to love and receive love on top of that is truly amazing!

Thanks for sharing, Soph! We hope to see you joining us in chapel today. Welcome back to Loma!

Our PLNU faculty and staff recently worshipped together in an online Christmas service. George, Dan, and some of our very talented alum recorded some live songs for it, including this NEW arrangement of “Joy to the World” titled “Make Room” The LINK for the FULL VIDEO is in our bio! We hope you enjoy it! We also hope you’re finding ways in this Christmas week to make room for Jesus, letting him bring light into the darkened places of our lives, and praying that over the world that he came for. Have a blessed Christmas🎄

We had the amazing (surprise) privilege of being able to chat with Pat Barrett in our intern meeting yesterday! He gave us some knowledge about what life in quarantine is like as a songwriter, and what it’s like to be a Christian in this season. We appreciate his time and willingness to share such a sweet moment with us!

Hey everybody, gather ‘round! It’s time to meet another intern this week... Danny!

Q1: Tell us a little about yourself!! Name, grade, major(s)/minor(s). 3 words to describe yourself
DM: yo! my name is Danny Martinez and i’m a senior commercial music major/worship arts minor! i’d probably describe myself as a john mayer stan, star wars connoisseur, and an amateur musician.

Q2: How is your virtual semester going?
DM: my virtual semester has been a bit rough. no one pictures their ideal senior year being in the middle of a global pandemic but hey, i’m just glad to be here.

Q3: How long have you been singing and/or leading worship?
DM: i’ve been a musician since I was 7 and a worship leader since i was 17. I grew up playing weekly since my mom was the worship leader at my church.

Q4: What’s one activity you could do everyday and never get bored of?
DM: recording and producing music. i’ve been working on a few projects with a few friends and it’s been one of my highlights of the past few months.

Q5: What made you want to become a worship intern?
DM: coming into my freshman year here at loma, i knew that i wanted to be a part of worship somehow. so I applied to be in New Student Band and i have been involved ever since. I am very grateful for worship arts and the interns who encouraged me to apply!

Happy Friday, folks! It’s about time we meet another one of our interns, Dylan (the one not photobombing the pic). Let’s hear what he has to say!

Q1: Tell us a little about yourself!! Name, grade, major(s)/minor(s). 3 words to describe yourself
DW: Hey I’m Dylan White and I’m a junior biochem major with a music minor. Probably loud, outgoing, and annoying (although this last one isn’t true according to others!!)

Q2: How is your virtual semester going?
DW: It’s definitely been hard, online labs are not the most ideal situations.

Q3: How long have you been singing and/or leading worship?
DW: I’ve been leading for around 6 years now- at least I think 😅

Q4: Would you rather be able to play every instrument perfectly or speak every language fluently?
DW: Oh this is tough, I really really want to say learn every language because I’d be able to meet a ton of people, but I think I’d chose instrument because music speaks to everyone (sorry for the cheesiness)

Q5: Other than worship through music, what other forms of worship makes you feel most connected to God?
DW: I’d say surfing is a huge way for me to be connected to God outside of music. I think some off my closest moments with God have been when I’m sitting out in the water just waiting for a set.

Stay tuned for the next time Dylan will be leading in chapel or you might even see him shredding it out on the pacific ocean!
